2018 BMW X1 SUV gets new BS VI compliant petrol engine in India

2018 BMW X1 sDrive20i has been launched in India. It is priced at Rs 37.50 lakhs and will be locally produced at the company plant in Chennai. The luxury SUV is now open for orders at BMW dealerships across the country.

BMW X1 sDrive20i is offered in an exclusive ‘xLine’ design scheme. This commands a better road presence with modern styling. With these features, BMW claims that the X1 is regarded as the sportiest premium compact sports activity vehicle (SAV) in the country. Being presented with a BS VI petrol engine, enhances its efficiency and on and off road comfort levels.

Offered in color options of Alpine White (non metallic) and metallic paint options of Black Sapphire, Mediterranean Blue and Sparkling Brown, interiors are seen in colors of Sensatec Oyster and Black, Sensatec Black and Black.

New BMW X1 SUVs exteriors are dominated by a well designed kidney grille with slats in aluminum matt and a high gloss chrome frame. It sits on 18” light alloy wheels with Y spoke styling. Door sills are finished in aluminum with BMW lettering and the steering wheel gets leather finish.

Interiors are seen with a panoramic sunroof and ambient lighting in orange or white. In terms of safety, the BMW X1 receives double clutch transmission, 6 air bags, ABS, brake assist, stability control, dynamic traction control, cornering brake control and hill descent control.

Engine power to the BMW X1 sDrive20i is via the 2.0 liter, 4 cylinder, BS VI compliant petrol engine stands at 192 hp and 280 Nm torque at 1,350-4,600 rpm while acceleration from 0 to 100 kmph is achieved in 7.6 seconds with top speed at 224 kmph. This engine is mated to a 7 speed Steptronic sport automatic double clutch transmission that allows for smooth gear shifts while the engine is highly fuel efficient and reduces CO2 emissions.

BMW EfficientDynamics allows for better fuel efficiency, enhances aerodynamic excellence and sees the inclusion of side air blades on the tail gate and air curtain integrated into air inlets in the front. 50:50 weight distribution, low center of gravity and lightweight construction along with auto start / stop feature and ECO PRO mode are also a part of the new BMW X1 sDrive20i. BMW ConnectedDrive sees features such as touch enabled navigation with iDrive touch controller, a 16.5” color display, BMW apps, wireless apple car play, park distance control, rear view camera, connectivity through Bluetooth and USB connectivity.
