2018 Dacia – 4WD Renault Duster, a blockbuster

Dacia – Renault Duster has a million global customers, and gets a redo seven years after launch. The all-new 4WD Renault Duster (Dacia) has been showcased at the ongoing 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show.

2017 New Dacia/Renault Duster brings together new styling, and equipment, an updated interior, comfort and driving pleasure. “The All-New Duster’s SUV appeal has been heightened by its robust exterior design which has been entirely redesigned, while its new interior design emphasises comfort and perceived quality. We’ve added new equipment such as multi-view camera (four cameras) which facilitates four-wheel drive use. 2018 4WD Renault Duster styling upholds a muscular stance in compact dimensions. Front and rear appear wider, and horizontal design lines are bolder. Aluminium roof bars, higher belt line, front and rear skid plates add to its off-road appeal.

17-inch wheels, redesigned dashboard, revised seats for lateral support, durability, improved comfort and overall better support, smart storage spaces, keyless entry, remote locking, and posh matte and grain fit and finish, add value.

New 4WD Renault Duster front grille extends to corner placed headlights with tri-sectional LED DRLs. The horizontal bonnet has sculpted crease lines. A forward shift of steep windscreen increases cabin space. Black wheel arch trims increase SUV appeal. Rear lights are located at extreme corners. Skid plates are a chrome story.

Two new body colours introduced – Atacama Orange and Dune Beige. Interior acoustics, soundproofing and cabin insulation are improved for reduced noise. S shaped more vertical dashboard provides user ergonomics and piano key type controls appeal to aesthetics. MediaNav Evolution display is positioned higher on the centre console for ease of use. Additional storage capacity, and repositioned hand brake free up space in the front row.

Three rotary controls for climate control match the air vents located on the dash. Steering wheel height adjustment is upto (40 mm) and reach (50 mm). Soft feel finish is on offer on high end variants. Adjustable head rests, driver seat armrest,lumbar adjustment and a new height-adjustment system (60 mm) are an improvement to driving comfort. Storage capacity stands at 28.6 litres. Redesigned stowage spaces include a 2.7-litre stowage tray under the passenger seat. Boot capacity is 445 dm3 for the 2WD variant, and and 376 dm3 for 4WD variant.

Four ultrasound sensors are located on either side in the front and rear to detect other vehicles. A warning
light flashes in the door mirror housing upon detection. Safety comes from a reinforced vehicle frame, new seat frames, curtain airbags, and automatic headlight activation. Electric power steering makes driving convenient.

All-New Duster dimensions – 4.3 metres long and 1.8 metres wide. High ground clearance (210 mm). Approach and departure angles of 30 and 33 degrees for off-road capability. Multiview camera (four) aids parking, and is activated automatically when in reverse gear.

Hill Descent Control, Hill Start Assist help take on slopes. The 4X4 monitor has a compass and indicates vehicle angle in real time. Petrol engine options – SCe 115 (2WD and 4WD versions) and TCe 125 (2WD and 4WD versions) mated to a manual gearbox. Diesel engine options – dCi 90 (2WD version) and dCi 110 (2WD and 4WD versions) mated to a manual gearbox. dCi 110 engine (2WD version) is available with EDC automatic transmission. An LPG variant option is listed. Dacia Duster is sold as Renault Duster in India and Russia.
