2018 Ducati Monster 821 launched in India – Price Rs 9.51 lakhs

The updated Monster 821 has been finally launched in India. The launch was done virtually via Twitter with a Q&A session that was conducted by Ducati India MD Sergi Canovas. Ducati claims that it is not like any other bike in its segment, and is easily the “the perfect everyday bike”.

2018 Ducati Monster 821 gets several updates. It is seen with a new fuel tank design, sharp tail segment and new headlamp design with LED DRLs. Price starts from Rs 9.51 lakhs, ex-showroom. This is an introductory price tag, and is only valid for the first lot of buyers.

It also receives twin exhaust mufflers, a full color TFT instrument cluster and will be presented in electronic aids with 8 levels of traction control and 3 riding modes of Urban, Touring and Sport. Braking is via twin 320mm semi floating discs with radial mounted Monoblock Brembo M4-24 calipers in the front and 245mm single discs at the rear.

Engine specifications include an 821cc, 90 degree, Testastretta V-twin engine as is also seen on its earlier counterpart. However, this engine has been tweaked for better auto emissions and is also now BS IV compliant. The engine is capable of 110 hp power and 86 Nm torque mated to a 6 speed gearbox with bi-directional quickshifter as optional.

Ducati India is offering the new 2018 Ducati Monster 821 in a new color option of Ducati Yellow in addition to Ducati Red and Matte Black. Set to rival the likes of Triumph Street Triple S, Yamaha MT-09, Suzuki GSX-S750 and Kawasaki Z900, the new Ducati Monster 821 sits above the Monster 797 in the company line-up.

Sergi Canovas Garriga, Managing Director of Ducati India said, “For the last 25 years, the Monster has consistently delighted biking enthusiasts across the world. This year is the 25th anniversary of the Monster and we’re very proud to introduce the new Monster 821 in India, in this special year. The new Monster 821 has been designed with the aim of creating a slim and a sporty motorcycle which highlights the original concept of “Sport Naked” and gives maximum riding pleasure.”
