2018 Honda Activa helps company achieve 1 crore sales in Gujarat, Goa, Maharashtra

Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India have announced sales to the extent of 1 crore in the western states of India that includes Gujarat, Goa and Maharashtra. Of these, the sales are mostly for the Activa series.

The company now commands a 47% market share in this region as compared to a 32% share pan India. The company took 14 years to reach its first 50 lakh customers in the western region while the next 50 lakhs were added in a matter of just 3 years.

While every second two wheeler customer in western region opts for a Honda two wheeler, it is the Honda Activa scooter that is the most in demand. Last month the company has also launched the updated version of the Activa-i, Activa 125 and Navi, with the Honda Navi sales already crossing the 1 lakh mark.

HMSI has also set up its fourth plant in India at Vitalpur in Gujarat in 2016, which is the world’s largest scooter-only plant. This plant has the capacity of 1.2 million (12 lakh) units per annum and has created 15,000 new job opportunities in the state of Gujarat.

One of the biggest contributor is the 2018 Honda Activa-i. It is is launched at Rs 50,010 which is higher priced as compared to its outgoing model. It is offered in color options of Candy Jazzy Blue, Imperial Red Metallic, Lush Magneta Metallic, Orchid Purple Metallic and Mat Axis Grey Metallic and gets a two tone analog instrument cluster, large underseat storage with a separate switch to open. It continues to be powered by the same 109cc engine seen on its earlier counterpart offering 8 bhp power and 9 Nm torque.

Honda also promotes road safety. The company has adopted a traffic park in Yeole, Nasik where a total of 2 lakh persons in all age groups are educated on road safety norms while activities are conducted to empower women and children.

HMSI has also undertaken several CSR initiatives in the field of rural education, woman empowerment and to curb child labor, The company has offered infrastructure support in construction of street lights, overhead water tanks and medical units.
