Honda has revealed 2018 Honda CB1000R at the ongoing EICMA Show. The company had showcased the Neo-Sports Café Concept at the recent Tokyo Motor Show and unveiled the production version in the form of CB1000R sportbike.
2018 Honda CB1000R is powered by a 998cc, liquid cooled, DOHC, in-line four engine offering 145 hp power at 10,500 rpm and 76.7 lb/ft torque at 8,250 rpm mated to a 6 speed gearbox. It gets new forged pistons and re-profiled combustion chambers with higher lift camshafts and large intakes and exhaust valves. Improved engine performance is thanks to 4 into 2 into 1 exhaust system and throttle control is enhanced with a new ECU system offering four rider throttle responses of Standard, Sport, Rain and User. the bike’s enabled with a fly-by-wire throttle,traction control, and ABS. debuts with a new 286 cc engine has also been shown, alongwith CB125R.
In terms of dimensions, 2018 Honda CB1000R measures 2,120mm in length, 789mm in width and 1,095mm in height. It has a wheelbase measuring 1,455mm and seat height of 830mm along with ground clearance of 135mm and kerb weight of 212 kgs. It gets Showa SFF-BP USD fork in front and Showa BRFC – Balance free Rear Cushion at the rear along with cast aluminum wheels fitted with 120/70 ZR17 front and 190/55 ZR17 rear tyres. Full LED head and tail lamps and LCD instrument panel is also evident and ABS is offered as standard.
New gen CB1000R is a metallic maestro with minimum plastic bits. Textured and machined metal bits are an immediate departure from what the now dated model looks like having first made headway a decade earlier.
2018 Honda CB1000R is 12kg lighter and gives the naked bike an improved power-to-weight ratio. There’s also a CB1000R+ version that gets matched with a range of premium accessories, and quickshifter. Heated grips, aluminium bits and inserts, and a radiotor grille are among the many options.
