2018 Honda Hornet 160 ABS showcased – Gets LED headlight, new colours

The new Honda Hornet 160R with ABS, LED headlight, new colour has made its debut in India.

Honda Motorcycle and Sooter India, the second largest two wheeler manufacturer in the country, has announced that a new variant of their sporty naked motorcycle, Hornet will be launched by April 2018. The new Honda Hornet 160 now gets single channel ABS with LED headlight and new colour options.

Price of the new 2018 Hornet 160 has not been announced, but it could be in the range of Rs 85-95,000. The current Hornet price starts from Rs about Rs 84,000 for the base variant and goes up to Rs 87,000 for the CBS variant. All prices are ex-showroom, New Delhi.

The new Hornet once launched, will rial the likes of Yamaha FZ V2.0 and Suzuki Gixxer. Honda has been struggling to establish a strong market share in the premium 150-160 segment and things finally started looking bright after the launch of the new Unicorn. The Hornet was expected to support its bikini faired stablemate in bringing significant sales volumes, but that did not happen. Now, with updated Hornet, HMSI expects the sales to increase.

Though the CB Hornet 160 shares its underpinnings with the CB Unicorn 160, it adopts a fresh and muscular styling. Highlights include a sporty fuel tank with cladding, a simple headlamp, petal discs at both ends, fully digital instrument console, a stout silencer with a silver guard, silver side cowls, split grab rails and an interesting taillight.

The 162.7 cc single-cylinder air-cooled carbureted engine dishes out 14.5 bhp and 14.61 Nm of torque. Transmission duties are handled by a 5-speed unit. Based on this, Honda is reportedly working on a fully faired Hornet, which could be launched later this year.

This new Hornet fully faired variant could rival the likes of Suzuki Gixxer SF in the Indian market. More details will be revealed once the bike is launched. Have a look at the images below.
