2018 Honda HRV SUV launched at GIIAS – New Suzuki Vitara, Hyundai Creta rival

2018 Honda HRV has been launched at the ongoing 2018 Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS). The new family SUV is expected to be launched in India next year. Here in India, it will be the perfect rival to Hyundai Creta and upcoming Maruti Vitara SUV.

All new Honda HRV is equipped with front and rear silver skid plates, 17-inch alloy wheels, shark fin antenna, rear license plate garnish, JBL badge on the tailgate and Special Edition decals on the front doors. Exterior color options available are Lunar Silver Metallic, Orchid White Pearl, and Rallye Red.

Inside, the HR-V Special Edition is equipped with 6.8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Link EQ equalizer and a premium JBL audio system. The new Honda HRV is priced from IDR 279 million (Rs 13.2 lakhs) to IDR 395 million (Rs 18.7 lakhs).

The Honda HR-V for Indonesia is available with two petrol engine options. The 1.5-litre i-VTEC unit produces 120 PS and 145 Nm of torque while the range-topping 1.8-litre i-VTEC mill is capable of 139 PS and 169 Nm of torque.

Both engines are mated to a CVT with paddle shifters but the base motor can also be opted with a 6-speed manual transmission. Drive is sent to the front wheels.

In India, this new SUV will sit perfectly below the CRV in the company line-up. It should be priced here in the range of Rs 12-15 lakhs. In this segment, it will also rival the upcoming Tata Harrier H5X, which is due for launch in India next year.

Here in India, expect the HRV to be powered by a 1.5 liter petrol engine which is seen on the City. This engine delivers 120 PS and 145 Nm. Diesel engine could be 1.5 liter 4 cyl generating 100 PS and 200 Nm. Transmission options on offer could be manual as well as automatic. More details will be revealed once the car is launched.
