2018 Honda Jazz facelift gets cruise control – Interior photos leak before launch

With launch of the 2018 Honda Jazz close, latest spy-shots now reveal interiors of the hot-hatch in detail. The mid-life facelift brings in features like Cruise Control, Passive keyless entry, front centre arm-rest, an updated 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support and a push start-stop button.

Though there are new features, changes in the interiors are minimal. Dashboard design looks similar to the one on current Jazz, and color pallet too hasn’t changed. Honda of course has chosen to continue with the all-black interior theme.

International version of 2018 Honda Jazz gets a new exterior design, however, the Indian variant won’t be getting any significant updates, except a minor change in tail-lights. This is due to the fact that the international version has grown longer to 4100 mm in length, while Indian tax laws continue to favour sub-4 metre cars. Reworking on exteriors to fit within the 4 metre mark would have meant additional costs, and relatively small numbers in the Indian market probably didn’t seem to justify an investment.

Power options in 2018 Honda Jazz will continue to be the same as on the previous version. The 1.2 litre petrol unit, which is also shared by Brio, and Amaze, churns out 88 PS & 110 Nm of peak torque. The 1.5 litre diesel engine shared with Honda City delivers 110 PS and 200 Nm of max torque.

India-spec will not get exterior updates seen on Euro-spec Jazz.

With the update, Honda has rejigged variants. Entry-level E and mid-level SV trim won’t be available. Going ahead, there will only be 3 trim levels – S, V, and VX. Additionally, entry level S variant will be available only as a diesel option. Petrol range will feature just two grades, V and VX, and both will be offered with a CVT option.

Launch of the updated Honda Jazz is due next week, on 19th July, 2018. Post launch, it continues to compete with Maruti Suzuki Baleno, and the recently face-lifted Hyundai Elite i20. Pricing is expected to be in the range of INR 7 lakhs to INR 9.5 lakhs (ex-showroom).
