2018 Hyosung GT 250 R launched at Rs 3.38 lakhs – Rivals Yamaha R3

Kinetic Motoroyale has launched the Hyosung GT 250 R fully faired compact sportsbike in India at a rather steep price of Rs 3.38 lakhs (ex-showroom). It is to be noted that the GT 250 R had been on sale in India before but Hyosung had to wrap things up temporarily since its previous Indian partner DSK shuttered operations following legal troubles.

The association with Motoroyale is expected to help the South Korean motorcycle brand to expand its presence in the country but at this price point, there are quite a few products with better value-for-money quotient.

The GT 250 R is powered by a twin-cylinder 250 cc oil-cooled motor which is paired to a 5-speed gearbox. At 28 PS and 22.07 Nm of torque, the performance on offer is reasonable for a quarter liter motorcycle but once we factor in the price tag, it is definitely not one of the sweetest deals on the market right now.

The Hyosung GT 250 R has a visual appeal of a litre-class sportsbike and that is its USP. The design, while being sharp, is not exactly modern. The motorcycle is equipped with inverted telescopic fork upfront and monoshock at the rear.

Braking duties are handled by a disc at each wheel. The equipment highlight include twin vertically stacked projector headlamps, ABS, clip-on handlebar, analog-digital instrument console, and a 17-litre fuel-tank.

The Hyosung GT 250 R will be retailed through Kinetic Motoroyale outlets which are set to come up at Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai and Hyderabad by end of this month. Outlets in Bengaluru and Kochi are slated to become operational next month. The quarter-litre motorcycle will be locking horns with the likes of Honda CBR 250 R, KTM Duke 250, Yamaha R3, TVS Apache RR 310, etc. It’s apparent that almost all of its rivals enjoy much wider after sales networks and carry more affordable price tags.
