2018 Hyundai Creta spied on test in India ahead of Auto Expo debut

Already on sale in Brazil first, India launch of the new Hyundai Creta facelift is scheduled for March 2018.

The Hyundai Creta facelift was officially unveiled in Brazil at the 2016 Sao Paulo Motor Show in November last year. Early this year, the Creta facelift was launched in Brazil, with prices starting from R$ 69,990 (INR 15 lakh). Available in a total of five trims, the top end variant costs R$ 99,490 (INR 21 lakh).

The new Creta facelift for Inida was spied on the Kotagiri – Ooty road. From the spy images, it is clear that the updated Creta will get new fog lights and a new grille for sure

Compared to the India-spec Hyundai Creta, Brazilian Creta has a chrome lining surrounding the front grille, revised bumper style, and horizontal fog lamps. At the rear, tail lamp design is revised, while there is a thin chrome lining running between the tail-lamps.

On the inside, the basic layout is similar to Indian Creta, but the Brazil-spec variant comes with an advanced infotainment system that offers compatibility with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Expect these same updates and changes to also feature on the India-spec Hyundai Creta facelift.

The Latin American Creta has adopted a flex-fuel version of the 1.6-litre engine which is modified to run on both petrol and ethanol. The motor would produce 130 hp @ 6,300 rpm and 161.81 Nm torque @ 4,850 rpm. In addition to this, there is also the 2.0-litre flex-fuel engine on offer. This delivers 166 hp @ 6,200 rpm and 201.04 Nm torque @ 4,700 rpm. Transmission options include 6-speed MT and AT units with the 1.6l unit while the 2.0l engine is only offered with AT. Both engines are offered only with FWD system.

In India, Hyundai Creta facelift will continue to be offered with the same set of engines as has been seen on the current variant. Expect the car to be ready for launch by early next year. First showcase could happen at the 2018 Auto Expo in February next year.
