2018 Hyundai Santro first look review – All details of upcoming Tata Tiago rival

The global reveal of the highly anticipated Hyundai Santro was held earlier this week. While launch is scheduled for 23rd October, bookings have opened online at a down payment of Rs 11,100. Official dealer booking will open post launch. You can book only via online as of now. The introductory price is valid for the first 50,000 customers who book the car online. After that, the prices will be increased.

Hyundai Santro continues to sport a tallboy design and is seen based on the pillars of a comfortable cabin, new age technology, customer centric safety, all round performance and complete peace of mind. It will appeal to every buyer due to its Advanced In-House developed Smart AMT and factory fitted CNG option.

Boasting of a design that is based on Rhythmical Tension, the new Santro is sporty and receives Hyundai’s signature Cascading Grille with chrome and black surrounds. It gets sharply cut headlamps swept back towards the fenders while the bumper is seen with prominent creases. At the rear, small tail lamps are noted while the rear windshield is larger offering better visibility at the back. The rear windscreen also gets a rear wiper and a high set auxiliary brake lamp. Another segment first is the inclusion of Hyundai’s Patent Eco Coating Technology that prevents unpleasant odour to develop in the air conditioning evaporator by degrading of micro-organisms.

Set to sport the latest in technology, the new Santro gets segment first 17.64cm touchscreen Audio Video system. The multimedia system is fitted with smart phone connectivity supporting Android Auto, Apple CarPlay and MirrorLink along with Voice Recognition Function. It gets rear parking camera display on its screen. Seating will be done up in premium black and beige color scheme. The seats will be ergonomically designed to offer driver and passengers the utmost in comfort with cornering, back support and bolster enhanced for greater comfort. Engine specifications on the new Hyundai Santro have also been detailed. It will be powered by a 1.1 liter, 4 cylinder petrol engine which will get mated to a 5 speed manual as well as a 5 speed automatic transmission. In fact the new Santro is the first Hyundai model to receive in-house developed Smart Auto AMT technology with a factory fitted CNG option. The engine is slated to offer fuel efficiency of 20 kmpl.

For buyer’s peace of mind, the company is offering 3 years /100,000 kms warranty on the Hyundai Santro along with 3 years road side assistance along with lowest cost of maintenance with doorstep service facility. No prices of the Hyundai Santro have been announced as on date and could be revealed prior to the October 23rd launch. The new Santro hatchback will compete with the Maruti Suzuki WagonR, Celerio, Tata Tiago and Datsun GO upon launch in the country. Expect to start from Rs 3.6 lakhs.
