2018 Jaguar F-Type price reduced by Rs 40 lakhs as new variant launched in India

Jaguar’s flagship sportscar, F-Type is now available with a 2.0 liter four cylinder ingenium petrol engine. Until now, the two door sportscar was only offered with either a 3.0 liter supercharged V6 or a 5.0 liter supercharged V8, prices of which started from Rs 1.29 crores and Rs 2.15 crores.

But, thanks to the introduction of a 4 cylinder engine in the F-Type, the sportscar is now more affordable. Speaking about numbers, this 2.0 liter ingenium powered F-Type does a top speed of 250 kmph and runs from 0-100 kmph in just 5.7 seconds. Peak power output stands at 300 PS at 5500 rpm and 400 Nm torque at 1500-4000 rpm. Tranmission is taken care by a 8-Speed Automatic gearbox. Price starts from Rs 90.93 lakhs for the coupe and Rs 1.01 cr for the convertible (ex-showroom).

Rohit Suri, President & Managing Director, Jaguar Land Rover India Ltd. (JLRIL), said: “We are very excited about the introduction of the 2.0 l engine on the F-TYPE. This will make our sportscar brand more accessible to Jaguar fans and customers across the spectrum. Enthusiasts are sure to be thrilled by the appeal of this pure breed F-TYPE with its own unique driving character.”

Compared to the more powerful supercharged variants of the Jaguar F-Type, the 2.0 liter variant is also lighter, thanks to reduction in weight by 52 kgs. Jaguar says that most of the weight reduction is done “over the front axle – and this is key to the four-cylinder F-TYPE’s enhanced agility.”

Range topping SVR variant is priced from Rs 2.57 crores.

Kerb weight of the car now stands at 1525 kgs while GVW stands at 1925 kgs. Speaking about handling, Jaguar adds that the chassis of this 2018 F-Type has been tuned to deliver better engine response along with body control and ride comfort – keeping Indian road conditions in mind.

What about exhaust? Naturally, you would want a sportscar-like exhaust, cause this is a sportscar. Would that be possible, considering that it is powered by a 2.0 liter engine? Well, Jaguar says – “A finely-tuned active exhaust is standard on entry-level F-TYPE models, while the R-Dynamic variants feature a switchable active exhaust for an even more involving driving experience.”
