On the outside, the new 2018 Mahindra XUV500 gets a bolder front grille that carries some chrome garnish. There’s also a new bumper at the front. The rear is where the changes are more dramatic. The 2018 XUV500 comes with triangular tail lamps and a new tailgate that give the SUV’s posterior a much fresher appearance.
The high-spec models of the SUV will come with a dual-tone faux skid plate and a projector setup and new DRLs for the updated headlamps. Also, the new SUV has gone on sale in two new colours – Mystic Cooper and Crimson Red.
Prices

The prices above are in Rs lakhs. They are of diesel variants, ex-showroom, Mumbai. There is only one petrol option on offer, and it is G AT variant. It is priced at Rs 15.43 lakh, ex-Delhi. It is based on the W7 variant.
Interiors
On the inside, the high-spec trims get soft-touch materials and all-black colour theme for the dashboard. The interior also gets tan-colored leather seats with quilted seats.
The center console of the dashboard gets a faux-aluminum trim. The infoainment system has been updated to support the smartwatch app via Bluetooth. There’s also a Technopack on offer, which comprises of apps like Gaana.com and Bookmyshow.
Engine
All variants of the new XUV500 get a more powerful engine as compared to before. Basically, the 2.2-liter diesel engine will continue but it has been tuned to produce a maximum power of 155 bhp and a peak torque of 360 Nm for new XUV500. Also, this engine offers an ARAI-certified mileage of 15.4 kmpl, which is marginally higher than the 15.1 kmpl from the less powerful engine. Petrol engine delivers 140 hp.
Variants and Features
Talking about the variants, the new 2018 Mahindra XUV500 gets fie diesel variants and one petrol variant. Even the base variant (W5) offers features like power windows, remote tailgate opening, rear wash/wipe and defogger, follow-me-home headlamps and two airbags.
The W7 variant also brings in features like cruise control, automatic climate control and steering-mounted audio controls with a smart key. The W9 trim also gets 17-inch alloy wheels, a reverse camera and a touchscreen infotainment system.
The top-spec W11 trim also gets an electrically adjustable driver’s seat and leather trim. 18-inch wheels and AWD are optional. The petrol trim gets the same features as the W7 variant. It’s powered by a 140 hp 2.2-liter petrol engine and misses out on AWD.
