New, upgraded Ciaz has been officially launched and as it makes its way to NEXA showrooms across the country, competitors are likely to be watchig closely and reworking their C-segment sedan plans and strategies for the showdown ahead.
2018 Ciaz features several new additions in terms of styling, space and comfort, technology and engine dynamics. A car that’s already a favourite for many, upgrades in Ciaz will make it even tougher for its competitors to match its offerings, especially at these prices. 2018 Ciaz is sold in petrol and diesel variants, with the petrol version available in both manual and automatic transmission.

Honda City – Honda City is Ciaz’ primary competitor in terms of features, pricing and engine configuration. New Ciaz gets power from a 1.5 litre petrol engine with SHVS (Smart Hybrid Vehicle System) that gives more power and torque, as compared to Honda City’s petrol engine.
However, City’s diesel engine fares better, as it offers higher power and torque. City’s diesel engine is mated to a 6-speed manual transmission, whereas Ciaz’s diesel engine offers a 5-speed manual transmission. In terms of mileage, it is the new Maruti Ciaz that wins.
Top-end variants of both cars have premium features such as automated climate control, plush leather upholstery and state-of-the-art infotainment system. 2018 Ciaz now offers all the high-tech features of Verna such as steering mounted audio controls, motor-operated adjustable mirrors, rear AC vent and advanced rear parking sensors. However, Verna will continue to score higher in terms of engine power, in both petrol and diesel variants. This has been a key factor for customers choosing Verna over Ciaz.
In terms of prices, it is the Maruti Ciaz which continues to be the most value for money (VFM) car in the segment. As you can see above, Ciaz beats both Hyundai Verna and Honda City by quite a margin when its comes to prices. In terms of performance, it is the Hyundai Verna which wins, and in terms of styling and premium-ness, it is the Honda City which leads.
