2018 Maruti Ciaz launch today – Sport kit, Comfort kit details revealed (Update)

Folks at CarDekho have managed to get a copy of the 2018 Maruti Ciaz official brochure. As per the leaked brochure, the new Maruti Ciaz facelift will be available in 7 exterior paint options and 11 variants of petrol and diesel engines.

It will sport exterior updates among which will be a new LED projector headlamp with LED DRLs, LEF combination tail lamps, 16” machined alloy wheels, new front bumper design and a revamped grille.

Interiors also get some design changes with wood trim on dashboard and doors, 7” touchscreen infotainment system, automatic climate controls, leather upholstery and safety features such as cruise control, dual airbags, ABS, EBD and ISOFIX child seat anchors (Nexa Safety Shield). As per the latest leak, the new Ciaz does not seem to feature 6 airbags.

Instead of more aribags like rivals Honda City, Hyundai Verna, the new Ciaz gets speed alert system. This system can be set from the multi information display using steering mounted controls.

If activated, it will sound two beeps once the car crosses 80 kmph and above and will continue beeping once driver crosses 120 kmph. The Ciaz facelift will also come with newly launched Suzuki Connect Telematics system.

Styling kits, rear passenger media kit, customisation options on offer.

Petrol engine is in the form of 1.5 liter 4 cylinder rated at 104 PS @ 6000 rpm and 138 Nm @ 4400 rpm. Mileage delivered by manual petrol is 21.56 kmpl (about 4 kmpl better than rivals) while that by the auto petrol is 20.28 kmpl.

Diesel engine is same as today’s – 1.3 liter 4 cylinder generating 90 PS @ 4000 rpm and 200 Nm at 1750 rpm. Mileage claimed is expected to be 27+ kmpl. Diesel does not get auto transmission, only manual is on offer. Both engines come with SHVS hybrid system as standard.

In terms of pricing, Ciaz facelift will see a marginal price increase as compared to its pre-facelift model. The base Sigma variant could be priced at Rs 8.1 lakhs while top of the line Alpha variant could carry a price tag of Rs 12 lakhs.

This will be a price hike of Rs 20,000-40,000 across range. Once launched, Maruti Suzuki Ciaz will rival Honda City, Toyota Yaris, Skoda Rapid, Hyundai Verna and Volkswagen Vento in India.
