At the ongoing 2018 Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show being held from 2-12 August 2018 in Indonesia, all new Suzuki Sport Concept has made global debut. Based on the 2018 Maruti Ertiga which is scheduled for India launch in a few weeks, the new Ertiga Sport variants gets multiple updates – on the outside and inside.
2018 Ertiga Sport is being projected not as a performance model but is being regaled for its sporty appeal with plenty of cosmetic changes both in its exterior and interior makeup.
Exteriors are noted with a blacked out front grille, new 16” low profile alloy wheels, smoked headlamps and a distinctive body kit and roof spoiler. Ride height has been decreased as compared to the current Maruti Ertiga which gets ground clearance of 180mm while suspension has also been tweaked for added performance.
All new Ertiga Sport will be powered by a 1.5 liter K15B petrol engine offering 104 bhp power at 6,000 rpm and 138 Nm torque at 4,400 rpm mated to a 5 speed transmission or 4 speed automatic. This is the same engine option which will be officially launched in India later this month on board the new Maruti Ciaz facelift. No diesel option is on offer with the Ertiga Sport.
Just like the 2018 Maruti Ertiga for India, the Ertiga Sport is also positioned on a lightweight HEARTECT platform. Compared to the old Ertiga, the new one is larger and more spacious and boasts of a new exterior design with elongated LED head and tail lamps, large chrome grille, massive bumpers and bold shoulder creases.
Interiors of the new Ertiga also get revamped with a more contemporary style. It will be seen in a dual black and beige color scheme on seats and dashboard. Faux wood inserts will add to its premium appeal while the 7 seater Ertiga will also get infotainment and safety features among which will be a Smartplay infotainment system, automatic climate controls, keyless entry and push button start/stop feature.
Pricing of the new Ertiga will also be marginally increased and will be priced from Rs 6.5-10.5 lakhs. More details will be revealed once the car is officially launched in India, which will happen before Diwali 2018.
