2018 Maruti Ertiga new photos – Honda BRV, Mahindra Marazzo rival launch tomorrow

Ahead of its launch on November 21, which is hardly a few hours away, new details have been revealed about second-gen Maruti Ertiga. One of the key changes is the improved mileage, which will be available in both petrol and diesel variants.

Ertiga has been a top-selling budget MPV for several months and it has registered average sales of more than 4,000 units in the last 12 months. With stylish exteriors, premium interiors and several new features and upgrades, second-gen Ertiga will be better positioned to take on rivals such as Mahindra Marazzo and Honda BRV.

Existing 7-seater Maruti Ertiga is powered by a 1.4-litre petrol engine that delivers 95 PS power and 130 Nm torque. This will be replaced by a new 1.5-litre, K15B, 4-cylinder petrol engine that makes 104.7 PS @ 6,000 rpm and 138 Nm @ 4,400 rpm. This is the same engine that powers Ciaz facelift. Engine is mated to either a 5-speed manual or 4-speed automatic transmission. Expect the new Ertiga’s SHVS idle start/stop mild hybrid engine to deliver mileage of over 19 kmpl. This is about 2 km more than the existing engine that gives 17.5 kmpl. Automatic variant will give over 18 kmpl, which is also an improvement over existing model’s 17.03 kmpl.

Diesel engine will be the same as earlier, but it has been reconfigured to deliver more mileage. The 1.3-litre DDiS diesel engine makes 90 PS power and 200 Nm of torque. Engine is mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. It will give mileage of over 25 kmpl, which is almost 1 km more than the existing engine. Second-gen Ertiga’s higher mileage makes it the most fuel efficient low-cost MPV in the country.

Higher mileage is also linked to new Ertiga’s Heartect platform that is stronger, yet lighter. Heartect platform improves driving dynamics and provides better stability. Launched in Indonesia earlier this year, second-gen Ertiga is larger than its predecessor, even though it has the same wheelbase.

Top-spec trims of new Ertiga will have various premium features such as wooden finish on dashboard, height adjustable driver seat, engine start/stop button, rear AC vents, automatic climate control, chrome plated door handles, leather-wrapped steering wheel, 12v charging ports in all three rows, voice command system, rear parking camera, and SmartPlay infotainment system supporting Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and navigation. Expect launch price to be in the Rs 6.5 lakhs to Rs 10 lakhs range. Below are the latest photos of new Maruti Ertiga.
