2018 Maruti Ertiga India launch by Diwali – Rival to Mahindra Marazzo MPV

2018 Maruti Suzuki Ertiga, a 7 seater MPV was unveiled in Indonesia at the International Motor Show in April this year, and subsequently launched for about Rs 8 lakhs. Now, its launch in India is eagerly awaited. Ahead of that, Suzuki has detailed the Ertiga in a new official video.

First launched in 2012, the new generation 2018 model is a larger and much more premium car. It will be a 7/8 seater people mover, with three rows of seating, which retains its 2,640mm long wheelbase. It will be offer larger interior space, better drivability and more fuel efficiency.

The new second generation 2018 Maruti Ertiga is positioned on the company’s latest HEARTECT platform which is the same platform on which the Baleno, Swift and DZire are positioned. To be produced from the company plant in India, the 2018 Ertiga will be seen with new exterior features.

It gets new projector healamps with LED DRLs, a new front grille with added chrome surrounds, a new front bumper design with fog lamp housing and a new front lip. Changes to the rear include LED tail lamps and a revised rear bumper. It also gets new multi spoke alloy wheels and turn indicators of ORVMs.

Interiors of the MPV will be seen with more premium features. It will get faux wood paneling on dashboard and door trims. A new 6.8” touchscreen infotainment system will be seen on its central console supporting Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Safety features will also include tilt steering, dual airbags on all variants, EBS, EBD, stability control and ISOFIX seats.Watch the official Ertiga video below.

Maruti Suzuki Ertiga will be powered by a 1.5 liter, 4 cylinder petrol engine offering 104.7 bhp power and 138 Nm torque which has been developed in-house by Suzuki and mated to a 5 speed manual or 4 speed automatic transmission. This is the same engine seen powering the Maruti Ciaz.

New Ertiga has also been spied with some emission testing equipment suggesting that the company will include a new diesel engine which will comply with 2020 BS VI emission norms. This 1.5 liter diesel engine developed in-house will get mated to a 6 speed manual transmission. Fuel efficiency for the petrol engine will be around 20 kmpl while the diesel engine will offer 25 kmpl. Both engines will get SHVS hybrid tech.

Maruti Suzuki Ertiga will launch in October 2018 with prices set to increase by Rs 30,000-50,000 over its current car to range between Rs 7.5-12 lakhs. The new Ertiga will rival the Mahindra Marazzo, also a 7/8 seater offering which is slated for launch tomorrow.
