2018 Maruti S Cross with new features launched – Can it beat Hyundai Creta?

Maruti Suzuki India have added new features to their existing range of S-Cross, enabling the car to rival segment leader Hyundai Creta even more fiercely. Hyundai sells over 10,000 units of Creta every month, thanks to the newly launched 2018 Creta.

Maruti S Cross on the other hand, registers only 4-5,000 units every month; in spite of being priced lesser than the Creta. With the addition of new features, the 2018 Maruti S Cross should be able to bring in added sales for the company.

Speaking about the new features, 2018 Maruti S Cross gets new Speed Safety Alert System. This is the same system which has been seen on the newly launched 2018 Ciaz from Nexa. What this system does is, notifies driver every time the speed of the car crosses 80 kmph.

Another new feature on offer is Passenger Seat Belt Reminder. This too is a new feature which was seen on the new Ciaz first. Then there is the Rear Parking Assist System (Sensors). In addition to these new standard features, there also the addition of Machined Alloy Wheels, Auto AC, Cruise Control, Smart Keyless Entry with Push Start, Rear Wash & Wiper, Auto Folding ERVM with Signal – in the Delta variant.

Speaking about engine options, it remains same as before – 1.3 liter multijet diesel that delivers 90 PS and 200 Nm via 5 speed MT. Maruti S Cross petrol is not yet launched. But there was a rumour earlier this month which took off thanks to a goof-up by someone in the advertorial department of Maruti Nexa.

Maruti Nexa basically advertized on Google that the S Cross petrol is on sale and is priced from Rs 8.1 lakhs. This of course is not true (yet), and the ad was soon removed. But hopefully the S-Cross with petrol engine is launched soon. This will give the Maruti S Cross an added advantage over Creta.

The new Maruti 1.5 liter petrol engine which has made debut with the new Ciaz is revolutionary, says Maruti. It replaces the old 1.4 liter petrol and is more powerful and fuel efficient, thanks to the SHVS smart hybrid system.

Price of the new 2018 S Cross remains same as before, in spite of the added features. It starts from Rs 8.61 lakhs and goes all the way up to Rs 11.33 lakhs. All prices are ex-showroom.
