2018 Rolls Royce Phantom VIII launched in India – Price starts from Rs 9.5 crore

2018 Rolls-Royce Phantom is the latest version of the flagship car that was first introduced by Rolls Royce in 1925. The redesigned flagship model boasts of new levels of excellence, a modern and majestic stance, passenger and driver comforts, liberal cabin space and faultless acoustics. It is the first Rolls-Royce to be based on the ‘Architecture of Luxury’ platform.

Pegged as the most silent car in the world, the new Phantom boasts of 6mm two layered glazing on windows and over 130 kgs of sound insulation and use of high absorption materials. ‘Silent Seal tyres have a layer of foam inside them which reduces tyre sound by 9 decibels. It has now arrived in India ahead of launch. The images were shared by Hitesh on Instagram. He mentioned that launch is on 22 February. No official word from Rolls Royce has come yet.

Exteriors see a taller grille with Spirit of Ecstasy hood adornments which is positioned about half an inch higher than that seen on its earlier counterpart. From its side, it continues to sport the 2:1 proportions with short front and longer rear overhang. It gets an upright front and flowing rear while side frame finisher is a large single piece of soft hand polished stainless steel.

Being an extended wheelbase model, a polished stainless steel strip is positioned on the sill to set it apart as a larger model. The grille gets integrated into the adjoining body work and receives a more contemporary stance while being flanked by new laser light headlamps casting their light to over 600 meters or 1,968 feet on the road ahead. Polished stainless steel strips, raked windows with stainless steel frame, 22” wheels and jewel like tail lamps are also a part of the exterior features.

Besides these superlative exteriors, it is the highly comfortable interiors that also make the Rolls-Royce Phantom VIII the most luxurious car in the world. Wood panels and quality accents are seen throughout its interior make up. Warmed seats, arm-rests, c-pillars and door trims are evident as are distinctive wood paneling on seats which are inspired by the famous Eames Lounge Chairs of 1956. Different rear seat configurations with the newly introduced sleeping seat facility are intimate and individual with fixed central console and arm rests. There are even sensors on the door handles which allows them to be shut electronically with just a touch.

Onboard, infotainment and safety features include two 12.3” TFT display, an analogue clock and a starlight headliner. The drinking package includes whiskey glasses and a decanter while the entire interiors are packed with comfort, infotainment and safety features. The long list of safety features are alertness assist, active cruise control, cross traffic alert, collision alert, lane change warning besides heads up display. A 4 camera system offers allows for a panoramic view, all round visibility with helicopter view, night vision and vision assist and active cruise control.

Engine specifications on this highly luxurious Rolls-Royce Phantom VIII will include a 6.75 liter V12 petrol engine offering 563 bhp power and 900 Nm torque mated to an 8 speed ZF automatic gearbox. The use of 8 speed automatic transmission with satellite aided technology ensures that the Phantom VIII is always in the right gear. 0 to 100 kmph acceleration is possible in 5.2 seconds while top speed is at 250 kmph.
