All new 2018 Skoda Rapid Onyx edition has been launched in India for a starting price of Rs 9.75 lakhs. It follows the same style as the Skoda Octavia Onyx edition which was launched last year. Launched just ahead of the festive season, Skoda hopes to boost sales with the new launch.
The special edition of Skoda’s C-2 segment sedan is based on the Style trim. It comes in with some exterior and interior updates, while mechanics stays the same as that seen on the standard model. Rapid is a rival to the new Maruti Ciaz, Honda City, Hyundai Verna, VW Vento.
On its exterior, the Skoda Rapid Onyx edition will be seen with blacked out head and tail lamps and blacked out roof and ORVMs giving it an overall sporty stance while it sits on new alloy wheels. All new Lapiz Blue paint. Revisions to the interior include new upholstery and door sill plates while features from the range topping trim could be making its way into the Rapid Onyx edition.
Engine specifications remain same and Skoda Rapid Onyx edition will continue to be powered by a 1.6 liter, 16V petrol engine offering 103.53 bhp peak power at 5,250 rpm and 153 Nm torque at 3,750-3,800 rpm. The 1.5 liter diesel engine will offer 108 bhp power at 4,000 rpm and 250 Nm torque at 1,500-2,500 rpm. Both engines get mated to manual and automatic gearbox options.
