2018 Suzuki Jimny price and engine details – New TVC launched

New generation Suzuki Jimny has been officially launched in Japan with a 660cc petrol engine and a 1.5 liter, four cylinder, K15B petrol engine. This engine offers 100 hp power and 130 Nm torque and comes in mated to either a 5 speed manual or 4 speed automatic transmission.

No diesel engine will be on offer with Suzuki having recently cut all diesel options from its lineup. This is because of stricter emission norms which are being implemented in countries across the globe.

Suzuki Jimny comes in with a four wheel drive system offering better offroading than any other car in the segment, claims the company. It is positioned on a ladder frame chassis and rides 20mm higher being positioned on 15” alloy wheels.

To enhance offroading performance, it also receives a three link rigid axle suspension, ground clearance of 210mm and can drive up inclines with a 37 degree approach angle and 49 degree departure angle.

Suzuki Jimny which is a retro G-Wagen look alike gets designs similar to that seen on the latest Mercedes Benz G-Class. It gets squared wheel arches, rounded headlamps and LEDs with built in washers. Interiors sport the latest features with a 7” touchscreen infotainment system with Bluetooth.

Rear seats are foldable allowing for a total of 377 liter luggage space. Safety features include 6 airbags, electronic stability program, traction control, hill hold, lane departure warning, traffic sign detection, hill descent control and automatic climate control.

Though Maruti Suzuki is yet to confirm its launch in India, there is a good chance the car could make its way to India. If launched in India, it will be the perfect replacement to ageing Maruti Suzuki. Price in Japan start from JPY 1,458,000 (INR 9,02,189) and go all the way up to JPY 1,857,600 (INR 11,49,456).
