Tata Motors is all set to launch the sportier version of the Tiago hatchback. The production-spec model was spied testing without any camouflage for the first time. It was noted with a sporty new design.
The model on test sported the “JTP” plate showing off its joint development by Tata Motors in partnership with Jayem Auto of Coimbatore. With a festive launch planned for the Tiago JTP hatchback the car showed off a new bright color scheme with blacked out elements.
It gets a dual tone bumper, faux diffuser, rear fog lamp and twin exhaust tips at the rear. Sporting the JTB branding on B Pillars and air vents, the JTP branding continues to front grille finished in black gloss. The Tiago JTP also sports smoked projector headlamps, larger airdam and dual tone alloy wheels along with blackened ORVMs and integrated turn signals.
The interiors are seen in an all black color scheme in distinct contrast to its red and black exterior. It gets red accents on AC vents and central console while seats and steering wheel are also seen in red stitching. Aluminum pedals, a 5.0” touchscreen infotainment system and 8 speaker sound system from Harman are also among its interior features.
Tata Tiago JTP will be powered by a 1.2 liter, 3 cylinder, turbo petrol engine that also powers the Tata Nexon. This engine offers 110 hp power and 150 Nm torque on the Nexon, a notable increase on power and torque figures on the standard Tiago at 85hp and 114 Nm. The engine will get mated to a 5 speed gearbox.
The company has not revealed any details on acceleration or top speed but we expect the Tiago JTP to offer quicker acceleration and faster speed as compared to the regular Tiago. Tata Tiago JTP will come in with a price tag starting from Rs 6 lakhs which is about Rs 1 lakh more than the top spec Tiago petrol.
