Tata Tiago NRG prices start at Rs 5.5 lakhs – First look review video

2018 Tata Tiago NRG has been officially launched today at a starting price of Rs 5.5 lakhs for petrol and Rs 6.3 lakhs for diesel, ex-showroom Delhi. The idea behind Tiago NRG is same that we have seen in the past implied on Hyundai i20 Active, VW Polo Cross, Toyota Etios Cross, Ford Freestyle, Maruti Celerio X, and so on.

What Tata has basically done, is made the Tiago a lot more attractive, and capable to take on Indian roads. There are plenty of cosmetic changes along with some feature upgrades, but nothing significant under the hood. Engine remains same as before.

New Tata Tiago NRG is being offered in a single variant and it is an upgrade of Tiago XZ trim. Existing Tiago XZ trim comes with a price tag of Rs 5.32 lakh for petrol variant and Rs 6.15 lakh for diesel variant (ex-showroom, Delhi). This means that the Tiago NRG variants are about Rs 15,000 more expensive.

The exteriors of new Tiago NRG are designed to be a head-turner, featuring 14 inch DurAlloy 4 spoke wheels, faux skid plates, roof rail, plastic body cladding (rear and sides), and unique Squircle shaped wheel arches. 2018 Tata Tiago NRG shares many of its features with top-end variant Tiago XZ such as steering-mounted audio controls, reverse parking sensors, and a cooled-glove box.

Interiors are now more attractive with dual-tone upholstery. Acoustics have also been upgraded, featuring an 8 speaker, surround sound system from Harman. Other key features include ABS with EBD, twin front airbags, reverse parking assist, Corner Stability Control, smart rear wiper, driver seatbelt reminder and electrically adjustable outside mirrors. Tata Tiago NRG petrol variant has a Revotron 1.2 litre, 1199cc, 3-cylinder engine that gives max power of 85 PS at 6000 RPM and max torque of 114 Nm at 3500 RPM. Diesel variant of Tiago NRG has a Revotorq 1.05 litre, 1047cc, 3-cylinder engine. It delivers max power of 70 PS @ 4000 RPM and max torque of 140 Nm @ 1800-3000 RPM. Both engines are mated to 5 speed manual transmission. Automated Manual Transmission (AMT) may be introduced later, but it is not available at launch.

Tiago NRG is available in three colour options – Fuji White, Canyon Orange and Malabar Silver. Tiago has been Tata Motors’ bestselling car, registering sales of around 7-8k every month. August was particularly good, with sales of more than 9,200 units. With the launch of Tiago NRG, sales could improve even further during the festive season.
