2018 Triumph Tiger 1200 launched in India – Price Rs 17 lakhs
2018 Triumph Tiger 1200 is an updated version of the existing Tiger Explorer.
2018 Triumph Tiger 1200 has been finally launched in India. Priced from Rs 17 lakhs ex-showroom, it is only offered in one variant – XCx. It will directly compete with BMW R 1200 GS and Ducati Multistrada 1200 range.
2018 Triumph Tiger 1200 had made its global debut at the 2017 EICMA Show in Milan, Italy. It was noted with lighter weight by around 11 kgs as compared to its earlier counterpart due to a lighter engine, chassis and exhaust.
The new Tiger 1200 gets upto 6 riding modes of ‘Road’, ‘Rain’, ‘Off-road’, ‘Sport’, ‘Rider programmable’ and ‘Off-Road Pro’. Keyless entry, Triumph Shift Assist, LED lighting and back lit switch gear are among its onboard features.
In markets across UK, 2018 Triumph Tiger 1200 will be presented in 6 variants – XR, XRx, XRt, XRx Low, XCx and XCa but India will only receive the XRx and XCx variant which will be seen in full color TFT LCD screen. The former will be launched at a later date.
Engine specifications on the Triumph Tiger 1200 include a 1200cc, in-line, 3 cylinder, DOHC engine with liquid cooling and fuel injection. This engine offers 141 PS peak power at 9,350 rpm and 122 Nm torque at 7,600 rpm mated to a 6 speed transmission with torque assist hydraulic clutch.
Suspension is via Triumph Semi-Active Suspension and the front end receives WP48mm upside down fork and the rear is seen with WP monoshock. Braking is through Twin 305 mm front discs and 282 mm rear discs.
