2018 Volvo XC40 off to a great start in India – 200 confirmed orders in just 15 days

Volvo India, which until last month was selling XC60 and XC90 in the country, has now added a new SUV to the line-up – the XC40. Bookings of this new model have opened at company dealerships while sales have also commenced.

Speaking to a few Volvo dealers in India, we can confirm that the XC40 is off to a good start. All dealers have received good number of bookings for the smallest ever Volvo SUV. In all, there have been 200+ confirmed orders for the newest Volvo SUV in India.

The Volvo dealership (SPL Cars, Kolkata) delivered 8 Volvo Cars including 6 XC40s on the auspicious occasion of Rath Yatra to their elated owners.

Offered only in the R-Design trim, Volvo XC40 is positioned on a Compact Modular Architecture (CMA) platform. It is sold as a CBU and is offered in three color options of red with a black top, blue with black top and white with black top.

New Volvo XC40 gets an upright front grille, Thor-Hammer LED headlamps, short overhangs and 18” 5 spoke alloy wheels. At the rear, a raked windshield is noted with integrated roof spoiler, twin chrome exhausts and L shaped LED tail lamps.

Its all black interiors receive standard features such as wireless mobile phone charging point, heated front and rear seats, 750W 12 speaker Harmon Kardon sound system and Volvo’s 9.0” portrait oriented touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Volvo XC40, just like other Volvo cars, is the safest car in the segment. Apart from the standard safety features like Airbags and ABS, it also gets adaptive cruise control, run off road mitigation, oncoming lane mitigation and blind spot alerts. These features puts the Volvo XC40 in a semi-autonomous car category.

Volvo XC40 in India is powered by a 2.0 liter, 4 cylinder diesel engine offering 190 hp peak power and 400 Nm torque. It is mated to an 8 speed automatic gearbox. It will get an all wheel drive as standard.
