2019 Bajaj Pulsar 220F ABS has been spotted alongside the new Pulsar 150 ABS ahead of the launch. The company is gearing up to launch the updated Pulsar range before the end of 2018, possibly in the fast approaching festive season.
The new version of Bajaj Pulsar 200F hardly has any visual difference compared to the current model unlike the Pulsar 150 which receives a belly pan. Bajaj didn’t feel the need to change the way the 220F looks since the original semi-fairing design has a huge fan following. The contrast decals now follow a new pattern.
So, the only noticeable update comes in the form of ABS encoder rings which confirm the safety feature’s presence. While the rear disc brake is not clearly visible in the photos, we can be sure that the motorcycle will receive a dual-channel system because even the Pulsar 150 gets it.
We expect Bajaj to optimize the powertrain to make the new model ready for the BS-VI emission norms upgrade when the time comes. The 2019 model is expected to retain the 220 cc oil-cooled single-cylinder engine without much changes. The motor is mated to a 5-speed gearbox and delivers an impressive 21 PS and 18.55 Nm of torque.
There are no other mechanical changes in the 2019 Bajaj Pulsar 220F ABS. The motorcycle continues to be equipped with telescopic front fork and twin gas-charged shock absorbers. The front wheel is retarded by a 260 mm disc while the rear employs a 230 mm unit. The front and rear tubeless tyres measure 90/90-17 and 120/80-17 respectively.
The introduction of dual-channel ABS would be accompanied by an increase in price by around Rs 10k, depending on how much of the additional cost the company decides to pass on to its customers. The existing non-ABS model retails for Rs 96,448 (Ex-showroom, Delhi), making it one of the most affordable offerings in the 200-300 cc segment in the country.
