New generation 2019 BMW Z4 made its world premier earlier this year at Pebble Beach, California. The First edition open top two-seater roadster showcased is in a shade of Frozen Orange Metallic. It is here that the BMW Concept Z4 was showcased, last year. Now, the same car has been spotted in India, albeit with camouflage. The new BMW Z4 was spotted by Automobili Ardent in Chennai.
BMW says Z4 has a 50:50 axle load (weight) distribution, and has closely brought the concept to life. Compared to the older Z4, the new one featureseffective handling and better driving pleasure – thanks to a low centre of gravity, updated driver seating position, and compact wheelbase.
BMW Z4 top variant with M badge (M40i) returns 340 hp (250 kW) from its 3.0L inline (six-cyl) engine. The sports suspension has electronically controlled dampers. M Sport braking system, M-tuned electronically adjustable suspension, and electronically controlled M Sport differential in the rear axle transmission are charged with vehicle control and stability. This M Performance roadster goes from 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) in 4.6 seconds.
New BMW Z4 M40i features adaptive LED headlights with matrix function for the high beam, Head-Up Display (HUD), and Live Cockpit Professional. Upfront is a mesh kidney grille, and large air intakes on the front wheel arches. The spoiler is integrated into the rear lid. Interior design focuses on sportiness with driver-oriented cockpit styling. With all controls structured optimally, the electrically adjustable seats with memory function look inviting.
New BMW Z4 comes with an electrically operated anthracite textile soft top with silver effect. BMW Individual High Gloss Shadow Line, black exterior mirror caps and 19″ dual colour light alloy wheels feature. On the inside, BMW Z4 wears a Vernasca black leather trim with decorative stitching, an option ambient light, and carries a Harman Kardon Surround Sound System.
In India, BMW Z4 could be launched with a 2.0 liter petrol engine which delivers 190 PS and 320 Nm via automatic gearbox. This engine delivers 0-100 kmph in 6.6 seconds and a top speed of 240 kmph. Once launched, new BMW Z4 will rival the likes of Audi TT and Porsche Boxster. Expect launch price to be in the range of Rs 65-70 lakhs.
