2019 Ford Figo vs Maruti Swift vs Hyundai Grand i10 – Price, specs compared

2019 Ford Figo facelift comes in with updated features and new engine lineup, to enter a highly competitive B segment of hatchbacks on sale in the country. A comparison into features, dimensions, engine lineup and price shows off how the new Figo Facelift stacks up against its two rivals the Maruti Suzuki Swift and Hyundai Grand i10.

Design – Ford Figo facelift boasts of fresh exterior and interior updates along with a set of new engines. It is offered in Ambiente, Titanium and Titanium BLU trims and gets dual tone bumper, a honeycomb grille with chrome accents, new fog lamps and a contrasting roof. The rear end also sports changes with new bumper design and wrap around tail lamps. Interiors sport new color schemes and 8” touchscreen infotainment system offering Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and SYNC3.

Maruti Swift boasts of a contemporary stance. It gets a well finished headlamp cluster, daytime running lights and tail lamps which are wrapped around the fenders. It sits on two tone 15” alloy wheels and it also gets a feature rich cabin with climate control system, flat bottom steering wheel, quality plastics and an instrument cluster with dials in a reddish orange finish. Maruti Swift gets LED projector headlamps as a segment first feature. Hyundai Grand i10 is the oldest of the lot. But it looks good and modern enough. Feature list is decent, including LED DRLs, black cladding, large round reflectors, alloy wheels, touchscreen infotainment, etc.

Dimensions – 2019 Ford Figo facelift is the longest among its competitors. It measures 3,941mm in length, 1,704mm in width and 1,525mm in height while wheelbase measures 2,490. Maruti Suzuki Swift on the other hand measures 3,840mm in length, 1,735mm in width and 1,530mm in height with a 2,450mm long wheelbase making it the widest and tallest among its competitors. Hyundai Grand i10 is the smallest on all counts. It measures 3,765mm in length, 1,660mm in width and 1,520mm in height with a 2,425mm long wheelbase.

Safety – Ford Figo Facelift complies with the very latest in safety. It gets dual airbags, ABS, keyless entry, push button start, rain sensing wipers and rear parking sensors as standard. The safety features are augmented in the top of the line Titanium BLU variant which gets rain sensing wipers, auto headlamps, automatic AC and 6 airbags. Maruti Suzuki Swift gets dual airbags and ABS as standard along with ISOFIX child seat restraints on the rear seat. The safety features on the Hyundai Grand i10 include dual front airbags and ABS and EBD as standard.

Engine specifications – Each of the three competitors are powered by petrol and diesel engine options while the difference lies in the fact that the new Ford Figo gets two petrol options as against the other two receiving a single engine option. The engine lineup on the Ford Figo facelift consists of a 1.2 liter petrol engine offering 96 PS power and 120 Nm torque and 1.5 liter petrol offering 123 PS power and 150 Nm torque mated to a 5 speed manual and 6 speed AT respectively. The 1.5 liter diesel engine is capable of 100 PS power and 215 Nm torque mated to a 5 speed manual transmission.

Maruti Swift gets a 1.2 liter petrol engine offering 83 PS power and 113 Nm torque and a 1.3 liter diesel offering 75 PS power and 190 Nm torque. Both are mated to a 5 speed manual transmission or AMT. Hyundai Grand i10 gets a 1.2 liter petrol engine offering 83 PS power and 113 Nm torque mated to a 5 speed manual and 4 speed automatic transmission. The diesel engine is a 1.2 liter unit, offering 75 PS power and 190 Nm torque via 5 MT.

Ford Figo is the most powerful, while Swift is the most fuel efficient – offering 22 and 28.5 kmpl fuel efficiency on the petrol and diesel engines respectively. Fuel efficiency on the Ford Figo and Grand i10 ranges between 18 to 25 kmpl.

Price – Ford Figo Facelift, Maruti Swift and Hyundai Grand i10 are all offered in the same price range and hence there is little or no competition where price is concerned. The Figo Facelift is priced between Rs.5.15-8.09 lakhs. The Maruti Suzuki Swift is also priced between Rs.4.99-8.83 lakhs while the Grand i10 prices range between Rs.4.99-7.65 lakhs.
