Having made their presence felt globally last year, the two Harley-Davidson bikes, Forty-Eight Special and Street Glide Special have now been launched in India today. These two offerings are a part of the Harley-Davidson plan to launch 100 new models in the next 5 years.
Both these Harley Davidson motorcycles are notably different in style and stance. 2019 Harley Davidson Forty-Eight Special is a sportster model while the Street Glide Special is a premium tourer. Price of the former is Rs 10.98 lakhs while that of the latter is Rs 30.53 lakhs. All prices are ex-showroom.
The Forty-Eight Special gets some changes over its standard variant with redesigned tallboy handlebars and ‘Throwback 70s’ graphics on fuel tank. The Forty-Eight gets 49mm forks and forged aluminum triple clamps. It offers better ergonomics and an optimized seat position. Rear suspension is adjustable. It sits on 16” wheels fitted with Michelin Scorcher tyres. Fuel tank is of 8.2 liter capacity.
The Street Guide Special gets blacked out components as against chrome seen on its standard variant. It also gets blacked out alloy wheels, suspension, engine, exhaust and handlebars. It also gets stretched saddle bags and a responsive suspension setup.
The Street Guide Special is loaded with features to further enhance its touring capabilities. These include a 6.5” touchscreen infotainment system with Bluetooth connectivity, GPS navigation, voice recognition system along with support for telecom.
Engine specifications see the HD Forty-Eight powered by a 1,202cc, twin cylinder, air cooled engine offering 60 bhp power and 90 Nm torque mated to a 5 speed gearbox. The Street Guide Special gets a 1,745cc, twin cylinder, air cooled engine offering 65 bhp power and 150 Nm torque mated to a 6 speed gearbox.
