There is still some time left before April 2020 when BS-VI emission norms come into effect. However, some manufacturers are going ahead and taking an early lead by unveiling their BS-VI compliant products.
First it was Hero MotoCorp that announced BS-VI certification for its Splendor iSmart motorcycle and now Honda has unveiled its all-new Activa 125, which is BS-VI compliant. Such products will definitely be attractive and advantageous for customers and even more so to those who may be waiting to buy a BS-VI compliant two wheeler.
New Honda Activa 125 is powered by an all-new 125 cc HET BSVI PGM-FI engine that comes integrated with eSP (Enhanced Smart Power). eSP is the primary technology that optimizes energy output, improves fuel efficiency and reduces friction.
Honda eSP comprises of four components – Honda ACG Starter, Programmed Fuel Injection (PGM-FI), Tumble Flow Technology and Friction Reduction. Honda’s unique ACG Starter ensures ‘jolt-free’ engine starts by utilizing an inbuilt AC generator. ACG Starter also comes with automatic engine start/stop function, which helps save fuel.
PGM-FI controls the flow of fuel to the combustion engine and ensures that just the right amount is used. This is determined based on engine data. New Activa 125 utilizes tumble flow technology and compact combustion chamber, which help improve engine efficiency. Friction has also been reduced with the use of offset cylinder and lightweight crankshaft and piston.
In addition to the key technology upgrades, all-new Honda Activa 125 also gets a stylish makeover. Some of the new additions include glamorous LED headlamp, restyled signature LED position lamp, chrome infused front and side panels, and embossed 3D Activa 125 logo.
The scooter also gets a new digital analogue meter that displays various types of information such as distance to empty, average fuel consumption, real-time fuel efficiency, service due indicator, and on-board diagnostics. Side-stand indicator system comes with Engine Inhibitor functionality, wherein the engine won’t start if the side stand is engaged.
Other key features of all-new Honda Activa 125 BS-VI include 5-in-1 lock with dual function switch, full metal body, external fuel fill, pass switch, front glove box, 3-step adjustable rear suspension, and Combi-Brake System (CBS) with Equalizer. All-new Honda Activa 125 BSVI will go on sale sometime in September 2019.
