2019 Jeep Compass Trailhawk 4×4 diesel SUV with 9 speed auto spied in India

Jeep Compass fans in India have been eagerly awaiting the launch of a diesel-automatic variant. Jeep Compass was launched in the country in mid 2017, but it is only offered with diesel manual, petrol manual and petrol automatic. The advanced diesel automatic with 9 speed transmission, is being made in India, but only for export market.

But the wait is about to get over as the same will be launched in India soon. Upcoming Jeep Compass Trailhawk edition will come with 4×4 as well as 9 speed auto mated to diesel 2.0 liter engine. The same has been spied with some feature updates that set it apart as a more capable off roader as compared to all other Compass variants on offer in India. The Trailhawk is already on sale in some RHD markets and the model to go on sale in India will mirror similar features.

Setting the Trailhawk variants apart, are the decals on bonnet, new alloy wheels and red towing hooks. The Trailhawk also gets new front and rear bumper design with better approach and departure angles at 30 degrees and 33.6 degrees respectively along with breakover angle of 24.4 degrees. Ground clearance has been increased by 20 mm to 198 mm while suspension has also been tuned for better offroading performance.

To be based on the top of the line variant, interior features include leather seats with red accents, black dashboard with red accents, touchscreen infotainment system with Apple Carplay and Android Auto, sunroof, etc.

This off road focused version of the Jeep Compass will be exclusively offered with a diesel engine and an automatic gearbox. It will be powered by a 2.0 liter Fiat sourced Multijet II diesel engine offering 170 bhp power at 3,750 rpm and 350 Nm torque at 1,750 rpm. It will be mated to a 9 speed auto. The Trailhawk will get an all wheel drive system with multiple terrain models which can be selected via a knob mounted on its central console. The all wheel drive system will allow for a low ratio/crawl mode while there will also be rock mode which is not on offer on the regular Compass variants.

Jeep Compass Trailhawk, which has already entered production at the company’s plant in Pune, will command a price of Rs. 2 lakhs over the top of the line Jeep Compass Limited Plus 4×4 variant which is currently on sale at Rs.22.90 lakhs so a price tag of Rs.25 lakhs is what is expected.
