2019 Maruti WagonR CNG option launch name is WagonR S (Smart) – CNG

Maruti Suzuki India Limited has announced launch of a clean, green and environmentally friendly WagonR S-CNG; claiming to have best in class mileage of 33.54 km/kg, a 26% better fuel economy than the outgoing WagonR CNG. The new CNG WagonR is presented in two variants of Lxi and Lxi(O) which are priced at Rs.4.84 lakhs and Rs.4.89 lakhs respectively, a premium of Rs 65,000 over its petrol powered counterparts. 2019 Maruti WagonR S-CNG is powered by a factory fitted CNG unit consisting of a 1.0 liter, 3 cylinder petrol engine offering 68hp and 90Nm of torque when running exclusively on petrol and 59hp power and 78Nm torque when running on CNG. The engine is mated to a 5 speed manual gearbox.

Features aboard the WagonR CNG Lxi variant include central locking, manual AC, front power windows and a 12V socket. It sits on 13” steel wheels and gets safety features such as driver side airbag, rear parking sensors, speed alert system and seat belt reminder along with ABS and EBD offered as standard. The Lxi(O) variant gets all these features in addition to a passenger side airbag as well.

Dimensions have increased on the 2019 WagonR CNG which now stands 3,655mm in length, 1,620mm in width. Height has been reduced from 1,700mm to 1,675mm while wheelbase has been extended from 2,400mm to 2,435m. Exteriors also see some changes with new wheel arches, split headlamps and new tail lamps while the use of 40 percent higher strength steel in its makeup ensures a lighter and a safer body structure with weight being reduced by 65 kgs.

WagonR S-CNG offers high performance with dual ECU and Intelligent Gas Port Injection technology which calibrates the quantity of fuel to the engine thus ensuring better fuel efficiency and better driveability. The smart packing of CNG cylinders allows for better spare tyre accessibility while the positioning of the CNG tank at a lower level ensures better vehicle dynamics.

Maruti Suzuki WagonR S-CNG is offered in those states across India where CNG infrastructure is in place. This includes Delhi-NCR, Gujarat, Mumbai, Pune, parts of Andhra Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh. The WagonR CNG competes with the new Hyundai Santro CNG and Maruti Suzuki Celerio CNG in its segment and joins the other Maruti Suzuki CNG models such as the Alto800, AltoK10, WagonR, Celerio, Eeco, Super Carry and Tour S in the company lineup.
