Being promoted as ‘Big New WagonR’, 2019 Maruti WagonR comes with various upgrades including a new, more powerful engine option. Key features include stylish exteriors, roomier cabin space, dynamically crafted interiors, lighter and stronger Heartect platform, increased fuel efficiency, and improved safety and security.
2019 WagonR continues to use the tallboy design, but the edges have been rounded to improve its visual appeal. Key exterior features include unique dual-split headlamps, chrome strips on the front grille, muscular side body, flared wheel arches, and body coloured ORVMs with turn signals.
2019 WagonR gets a floating roof design with blacked out B-pillar and black insert on the C-pillar. However, some popular expectations have not been met such as LED headlamps and DRLs and alloy wheels.
Big new WagonR is longer and wider than the outgoing model. It also has a longer wheelbase (+35mm). New dimensions are 3655 mm x 1620 mm x 1675 mm (LXWXH). This makes new WagonR 19 mm longer and 125 mm wider. It translates into increased cabin space and boot space. Based on advanced Heartect platform, new WagonR is 65 kg lighter than its predecessor. This makes the car more agile and also improves fuel efficiency.
Engine options span a 1.0 litre, 3 cylinder, K10B engine that returns 67 bhp power and 90 Nm torque mated to a 5 speed manual gearbox and AMT, and a 1.2 litre, 4-cylinder engine returns 89 bhp power and 113 Nm torque mated to a 5 speed manual and AMT. The latter is also pressed into service in Swift, Dzire, Baleno, and Ignis.
