It may be remembered that the Skoda Rapid Monte Carlo, launched in India in August 2017, had to be discontinued by the company in less than 2 months of launch. After Monte Carlo Apparels filed a trademark infringement case against the automaker. It seems that the issue is now fixed.
Skoda Rapid Monte Carlo is now being reintroduced in India. It will be the first variant within the Monte Carlo marquee and will be offered in an exclusive color scheme of Flash Red. The premium Monte Carlo range pays homage to Skoda’s Motorsport Heritage and Rallye Monte Carlo.
Priced from Rs.11.16 lakhs, the Skoda Monte Carlo will sport black design elements and race inspired accents and will go on sale at all company authorized dealerships in the country. Its exteriors will be seen with a distinctive Skoda signature grille, quartz cut projector headlamps, black gloss mirrors, LED DRLs and dual tone 16” Clubber alloy wheels. Design elements to the sides and rear will see gloss black B Pillars with Monte Carlo flag badging, black roof foil, black tail gate spoiler and black diffuser.
Speaking about the launch, Mr. Zac Hollis, Director – Sales, Service, and Marketing, Skoda India said, “We are glad to re-introduce the Monte Carlo marque in India. The RAPID Monte Carlo offers a compelling combination of the brand’s emotive design, exquisite interiors, leading safety as well as intelligent connectivity features. It is positioned at the upper end of its segment and targets discerning customers who wants a premium experience.”
The black color scheme continues to its interiors with a SuperSport flat bottom multi-function steering wheel and gear knob in black perforated leather with red stitching accents, leatherette upholstery, ribbed stainless steel foot pedals and scuff plates along with a piano black central console. It will also sport a state of the art 6.5” color touchscreen Central Infotainment System with SmartLink technology, MirrorLink, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto besides AUX-In, USB and Bluetooth options.
Other on-board comforts will also include rear view camera, tinted windows and windscreen, intelligent rain sensing wipers, built in cruise control, height and length adjustable steering wheel and adjustable headrests. On the safety front, the new Skoda Monte Carlo will get features such as dual airbags, ABS, EBD, three point seat belts, Electronic Stability Control and Hill Hold assist.
Skoda Rapid Monte Carlo will be powered by a 1.5 liter TDI diesel engine offering 110 PS power and 250 Nm torque and a 1.6 liter MPI petrol engine delivering 105 PS power and 153 Nm torque. In terms of fuel efficiency the diesel engine will offer 21.72 kmpl for the DSG auto variant and 21.13 kmpl on the MT variant. The petrol engine will offer 15.41 kmpl on its MT variant and 14.84 kmpl on the AT variant. Below are the variants and prices.
