Skoda has released first official images of the soon to be launched Superb facelift. 2019 Skoda Superb facelift is seen with an updated design. The front end features a new butterfly grille which gets a thick chrome strip running along its length.
The headlamps sport a slimmer stance while lighting element is modified. The airdam gets wider stretching across the length of the front façade and other design elements include a new front bumper and wide LED fog lamps. Rear too has been revised with new bumpers and tail lamp design. It also gets wide Skoda lettering and a thin chrome strip running the length of the rear.
The interiors see a number of changes in terms of technology and comforts. Special upholstery and personalization options will be available in the new Superb facelift. It will also receive a number of segment first features being offered on the new Superb to include Android Auto and Apple CarPlay smartphone compatibility, a larger touchscreen infotainment system offering over the air updates, new mobile app functions, wireless charger, etc.
Engine specifications on the 2019 Skoda Superb facelift include the new 1.4 liter TSI petrol electric engine which also powers the Volkswagen Passat GTE. This engine offers combined output of 250 bhp and emits 39 g/km of CO2. The Superb Hybrid will also get an electric mode with range of 50 km. Other engine options remains same as before.
The 13 kWh battery on board the new Superb can be charged by the car itself, when it is on the move. It takes about 12 hours driving on petrol motor, in order to get fully charged. It can also be charged via wall socket, which will give full charge in about 3.5 hours time.
In India, Skoda Superb is offered with a 1.8 liter petrol TSI engine which delivers 180 PS and 320 Nm. It is mated to a 6 speed MT. There is also 7 speed DSG on offer. Diesel engine is in the form of 2 liter mill, which delivers 175 PS and 350 Nm. Transmission option is 6 speed DSG. MT is not on offer with diesel Superb in India.
Price ranges from Rs 26 lakhs to Rs 34 lakhs, ex-sh. Updated 2019 Superb is expected to be launched next year in India. It will compete with the Honda Accord, VW Passat and Toyota Camry.
