2019 Gixxer 250 SF

The updated version of 2019 Suzuki Gixxer 150 SF and the all new 2019 Suzuki Gixxer 250 have been leaked via official photos via Japanese site. The two have also been spotted at a dealership in India. Both bikes will be launched tomorrow in India, at the BIC. The real hero of tomorrow’s launch event, however, will be the eagerly awaited Gixxer SF 250 whose specifications have been leaked last week.

The 2019 Suzuki Gixxer SF 150 shares its styling with the new quarter liter sibling. The completely new front fairing is a lot sportier and leaner compared to the outgoing model. The bike features an angular headlamp that is mounted lower than before to render a meaner intent.

The new fairing is complemented by redesigned tailpiece complete with split seats and revised taillight. The fuel tank remains more or less untouched while the fully digital instrument console has a new layout (the level of info on offer remains the same). The motorcycle also receives a black finished clip-on handlebar.

The changes are expected to be merely superficial, for the Gixxer SF 150 is hardware configuration is already well appreciated. The 155 cc air-cooled engine is expected to continue without much changes. This means it will be paired to a 5-speed gearbox and develop 14.8 hp at 8,500 rpm and 14 Nm of torque at 6,000 rpm. While the current version is available in carbureted and fuel-injected variants, the new model is expected to be offered only in FI avatar.

The images indicate that the 17-inch alloy wheels and meaty tubeless tyres (100/70-17 front and 140/60-17R rear) have been retained as well. The Gixxer SF 150 is likely to offer rear disc brake as an option but it will get front disc brake with single-channel ABS as standard. While both Gixxer SF 150 and SF 250 have been leaked already, there is no word about the updated Gixxer 150 street fighter. However, we think the naked model is too important for Suzuki to miss the update.

Suzuki Gixxer 250 is powered by an all new single cylinder 250 cc oil cooled FI engine. It will deliver 26.5 PS power and 22.6 Nm torque. It is mated to a 6 speed transmission and claims top speed of over 140 kmph. It gets disc brake in the front and rear with dual channel ABS. It will take on Honda CB250R and Yamaha Fazer 25. Price will be in the Rs 1.7 lakh region, ex-sh.

Changes to the Gixxer 150 SF is likely to be accompanied by a nominal price hike. Expect it to retail around Rs 1.05 – 1.10 lakhs (ex-showroom). With its sportier styling, the new Gixxer SF 150 looks as sharp as the popular Yamaha R15 V3 but in terms of performance it is more in FZ-S territory. The new Gixxer family would be crucial for the Japanese brand’s growth in the coming years.
