Suzuki Gixxer 150 is among the best selling bikes in its segment in India. The lack of a higher capacity bike that has made the Japanese two wheeler maker plan launch of a new Gixxer 250. Set to be launched in India in early 2019, the new Gixxer 250cc will come in as an entry level sportsbike, at an affordable pricing
It was reported earlier that the Gixxer 250 will first be launched in naked avatar. But as per media reports from Japan, the first bike will be a fully faired version. After that, the naked version of Gixxer 250 will be launched.
Suzuki Gixxer 250 will follow similar styling as seen on the GSX-S750 and GSX-S1000. It will be especially developed for India and will get new design elements among which will be an LED head and tail lamps, all digital display, split seats and Suzuki Easy Start System while ride position will be vastly improved.
Though the Gixxer 250 will be positioned on the same frame as the Gixxer 150, it will be tweaked to take on a higher capacity engine. The Gixxer 250 will receive telescopic front forks and monoshocks at the rear and disc brakes at both ends. Dual channel ABS will be offered as standard.
Together, Suzuki Gixxer 250 and Gixxer 250 SF will help Suzuki to take on the competition. Yamaha already has made in India 250 cc affordable bikes, Bajaj is planning on launching Pulsar 250 based on KTM Duke 250, Honda already has the CBR250R, Hero is planning Karizma 200 based on HX250. This confirms that two wheeler makers are keeping a close eye on the 250 cc segment.
Suzuki Gixxer 250 will be powered by a 250cc, SOHC oil cooled engine offering 22-25 bhp power and mated to a 6 speed gearbox. Engine patent images have now been leaked via kojintekibikematome, and can be seen above. It could be priced at around INR 1.5 lakhs upon launch in the country.
