2019 Suzuki Gixxer facelift features in new TVC video – Born of Greatness

After months of waiting, 2019 Suzuki Gixxer 155 facelift has been finally launched in India. First launched in 2014, it was about time for Suzuki to update their entry level naked sportsbike, which is also the first motorcycle which Suzuki makes in India and exports to their home country, Japan.

Feature updates include more sporty fuel tank, split seats, new LED tail headlamp, LED tail lamp, split grab handles, and new white back lit digital instrument cluster in place of the earlier orange coloured unit.

It will now be seen in colour options of Sparkle Black, Metallic Sonic Silver, and Metallic Triton Blue. The new Gixxer will sit on 17” black alloy wheels with 100/80R-17 front and 140/60R-17 rear tyres, while fuel tank is of 12 liter capacity and kerb weight is at 140 kgs. Detailing the new Suzuki Gixxer is the company’s new TVC, which can be seen below.

Suzuki Gixxer 155 facelift is powered by the same BS6 compliant 155cc, air cooled, fuel injected, SOHC engine offering 13.9 bhp power at 8,000 rpm and 14 Nm torque at 6,000 rpm; mated to a 5 speed gearbox. Suspension is via telescopic fork in the front and monoshock at the rear. Braking is through disc brakes at both ends. Single channel ABS is offered as standard.

Offered with a 5 year warranty, Suzuki Gixxer facelift is priced from Rs 1 lakh. This is about Rs 12,000 more than the outgoing Gixxer model. Some dealers, who still have stock of old Gixxer, are selling the same with discount offers. Regaled for its excellent handling and smooth engine, the new Gixxer rivals Yamaha FZ V3.0, TVS Apache RTR 160 4V, Bajaj Pulsar 160NS and the Honda CB Hornet 160R.

Suzuki Motorcycle India is the only few two wheeler manufacturer today, who has been posting increase in sales. In June 2019, Suzuki reported an increase of 24% in domestic sales, this at a time when the two wheeler industry in India registered a decline of 11%. Helping Suzuki boost sales in these difficult period is their Access 125 scooter, which is the best selling Suzuki product.

This is followed by Burgman scooter, and then the Gixxer series. Under the Gixxer series, Suzuki offers Gixxer, Gixxer SF and the Gixxer 250 SF. Next month, Suzuki will launch Gixxer 250 naked in India. Expect price to be in the Rs 1.5 lakh range.
