2019 Vespa 150 ABS, Aprilia 150 ABS spied for the first time – Launch soon

Heralding in the start of the new year, Piaggio is all set to launch 2019 model year variants of the Aprilia SR150 and Vespa 150 (SXL and VXL) with single channel ABS. These updated scooters have been shipped to dealers across India, with delivery to start early next year.

Price too will be increased in the region of Rs 5k to 8k. Current price of Aprilia SR150 price ranges from Rs 72k to Rs 82k, depending on the variant. Price of the Vespa 150 ranges from Rs 92k to Rs 1.03l. All prices are ex-showroom, Delhi.

Addition of ABS is being done so as to meet Indian govt norms. From 1st April 2019, no two wheeler in India above 125cc can be sold without ABS. Those below 125cc, need to have CBS. Almost every two wheeler maker in India is currently in the process of updating their line-up and adding ABS on their vehicles.

Vespa 150 is powered by a 150 cc engine delivering 11.4 hp and 11.5 Nm. Aprilia SR150 is powered by a 154cc, air cooled, single cylinder engine offering 10.06 PS peak power at 6,750 rpm and 10.9 Nm peak torque at 5,000 rpm mated to a CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission) automatic drive. The bikes sit on 14 inch alloys wrapped in MRF Tyres. Braking power is via 220mm disc brake in the front and 140mm drum brake at the rear. It gets telescopic suspension in the front and pre load adjustable monoshock at the rear.

Apart from the ABS trim, Piaggio has announced the launch of two new colour options with the Aprilia SR150. These also come with new body graphics along with optional windscreen and race-themed helmets. Two variants of new Aprillia SR 150 include SR150 Carbon Edition and SR150 Race Edition Scooters.

Aprilia SR150 is the best selling performance scooter sold in the country. It sports a white base paint with red and green colored body graphics, a semi digital instrument console with analog speedometer, digital display for fuel gauge, trip meter and odometer. Windscreen and race themed helmet are offered as options in a color scheme that matches the scooter. Bluetooth connectivity is offered as standard. Smartphone connectivity, GPS, Panic Alert system, and find me feature are also a part of the new features to be seen on the SR150.
