2019 Yamaha FZ S ABS spied at dealer – New black colour variant

The new 2019 Yamaha FZ S ABS will be launched on 21st January 2019. It has been spied at a dealer yard recently, in multiple colour options. One of them is a black colour, while the other is a blue colour.

Leaked images of the new 2019 Yamaha FZ S ABS show the front section of the bike with a new LED headlamp. This has been divided into two, with the lower section being low beam and higher section for high beam.

It also gets new turn indicators positioned higher and a new front mudguard. Feature updates also include a new fuel tank with extended tank shrouds as seen on the Yamaha FZ 25, new exhaust, shorter tail section and a single piece seat that takes the place of split seats as seen on the current generation model.

2019 Yamaha FZ S ABS also receives 17” alloy wheels and the rear section is seen with new grab rails. The alloy wheels are fitted with 100/80-17 front and 140/60-17 rear tubeless tires while telescopic front forks and monoshock at the rear are also noted.

To comply with new and stringent safety conditions being implemented in the country, 2019 Yamaha FZ S gets ABS, though it is still not clear if it is a dual channel unit or will it get only single channel ABS.

2019 Yamaha FZ S ABS will see no change in its engine, which will now comply with BS-VI emission norms. It will continue to be powered by a 149 cc, fuel injected engine offering 13 bhp peak power at 8,000 rpm and 12.8 Nm torque at 6,000 rpm mated to a 5 speed gearbox. Fuel efficiency could stand at 45 kmpl in city limits and at 55 kmpl on the highway.

Though there are no price indications as on date, the new FZ S ABS from Yamaha could come in priced Rs.5,000-10,000 over its current version, which carries a price tag of Rs.84,042. It will compete with Honda CB Hornet 160 R, Suzuki Gixxer and Bajaj Pulsar NS 160. Yamaha is also testing the MT-15 for launch in India.
