2019 Yamaha R15 V3 facelift with new graphics launched in Thailand

The fully-faired 2019 Yamaha R15 V3 has been updated for Thailand. Cosmetic changes incorporated will cost buyers THB 500 (approx Rs 1,100) more. MY2019 Yamaha R15 costs THB 97,500 (INR 2.16 lakhs). 2019 Yamaha R15 V3 was launched in India last year and sports several performance updates over its predecessor. This fully faired motorcycle which is best suited both for daily commute and for the race track.

Changes to the 2019 Yamaha R15 V3 include new colour options of Blue-Black, Black and Grey-Yellow. Standard features include a LED headlamp, a fully digital instrument cluster with large read outs and some track centric features such as frame slider, skid plate and Metzeler rear tyre along with a Daytona muffler. Seat design and ground clearance remains unchanged.

While the India spec model weighs 142 kgs, the Thailand model weighs 137 kgs. Model variations are a result of individual market requirements basis norms and mandates.

Mechanics on 2019 Yamaha R15 V3 remain the same. The 155cc, liquid cooled, 4 valve, SOHC engine with Variable Valve Actuation offers 19.3 PS power at 10,000 rpm and 14.7 Nm torque at 8,500 rpm mated to a 6 speed gearbox. Suspension is via upside down fork in the front and monoshock at the rear along with adjustable preload. The bike gets disc brake at both ends.

In India the bike is fitted with conventional fork so as to keep price at competitive levels. However, the upside down suspension ensures better performance around corners and also relates to better stability even on bad road conditions. Dual channel ABS is not offered in Thailand as it is not a mandatory safety feature in the country, as it is in India.

2019 Yamaha R15 V3 is priced at Rs.1,40,280 in India and is offered in three colour options of Thunder Grey, Racing Blue and Darknight. It was the first bike in its segment to be offered with an ABS unit with adjustable fluid pressure allowing for effective braking on slippery roads.

For the brand, Yamaha R15 is a greatly popular product across markets, catering to a wide group of riders with varying riding reference. The 150cc segment offering has kept up with time, and has something for new riders, and seasoned ones.
