2019 Yamaha R25 makes global debut – India launch expected next year

2019 Yamaha R25 targets the young rider with its sporty stance, aerodynamic body and above all a higher top speed which is 8 kmph more than that offered by its earlier counterpart. Having made its world premiere today, the 2019 Yamaha R25 gets detailed.

2019 Yamaha R25 commands an aerodynamic body work. It is presented in three color options of Yamaha Racing Blu, Matte Black and Matte Red and borrows inspiration from the R1 superbike with sleek LED headlamps, sharp styling and a full LCD display offering the rider with adjustable shift timing light.

It retains the split seat, clip on handle bars and rear set foot pegs offering an aggressive riding stance. It sits above the R125 entry-level offering in the ‘R’ family which was showcased at 2018 INTERMOT motorcycle show.

It sports upside down forks clamped by an aluminum triple crown as seen on the R1 and R1M. Braking is via single hydraulic discs at the front and rear while the YZF-R25 will be offered with ABS and Non-ABS versions.

Engine specifications include the same 250cc parallel twin, liquid cooled engine offering 35.5 hp power at 12,000 rpm and 22.6 Nm torque at 10,000 rpm. The engine gets mated to a 6 speed gearbox which also comes in with slipper clutch.

A notable difference is that this new engine claims a top speed at 8kmph more than that seen on the earlier model while the aerodynamic body lowers drag coefficient or Cd.A to 0.323 from 0.347. Kerb weight is at 166 kgs. India launch could take place next year.
