2020 Ford Puma debuts with unique boot space – Video

2020 Ford Puma is a crossover and borrows heavily from the Fiesta hatchback with a higher and more upright driving stance. It gets a large black grille, LED head and tail lamps.

This 5 door SUV grows in dimensions as compared to the Fiesta, measuring 46mm longer, 54mm higher and 71mm wider and with a 95mm longer wheelbase. Its boot is the largest in its class with capacity of 456 liters while there is also hands free tailgate and a parcel shelf of a material that moulds itself around tall items in the boot. Interiors of the Ford Puma see dashboard borrowed from the Fiesta in a simple design. It also gets massage front seats, with zippable covers in a choice of color options, digital display for dials and SYNC3 infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto along with a premium 10 speaker B&O audio system.

Safety features would include emergency brake assist, tyre pressure monitoring, pedestrian detection, pre collision assist and semi autonomous parking assist. It will also get electronic stability control and emergency steering along with adaptive cruise control. Standard safety features airbags, ABS, EBD, hill hold, etc is also on offer.

2020 Ford Puma will be offered in Zetec, Titanium and ST-Line trims. It will be powered by a 1.0 liter turbocharged, 3 cylinder, EcoBoost petrol engine with an electric motor. This engine on the base model will offer 123 hp power while this goes up to 152 hp on the top of the line variant.

The engine on both variants gets mated to a 6 speed manual transmission while an automatic gearbox is also in the offing. This motor will also be offered as a mild hybrid with belt driven starter/generator and a 48 volt battery. It will sit on 18″ standard or 19″ optional matte black machine cut alloy wheels and will get specially tuned springs and shock absorbers.

The new 2020 Puma will be showcased at Frankfurt Auto Show in September with launch scheduled soon after. No prices are announced as on date but are expected to start from under £20,000. Production operations will be undertaken in Craiova, Romania for the European Union and the United Kingdom. India launch not confirmed.
