Honda Activa remains the bestselling scooter in the Indian market. With about 2.5 lakh units sold every month, the reason Honda Activa has remained on top, is the regular updates the scooter has received. This helps Activa to meet the changing needs of their customers.
And the time has come for yet another update of Activa. In an official video teaser, Honda has revealed the launch date of the Activa 6G. To be launched on 15th Jan 2020, the Honda Activa 6G will replace the current Activa 5G BS4.
The official mail from Honda 2 Wheelers India says – “Greetings and New Year Wishes from Honda 2Wheelers India. Get ready to venture into a game changing year. The game begins on 15th January 2020! After all, what’s 2020 without a 6?” Watch the teaser video below.
The slowdown in auto sector has affected many automobile companies and even leading brands such as Activa haven’t been spared. However, things could change for the better in the future, as Honda may introduce a range of new features in upcoming Activa 6G.
Many carmakers currently seem to be riding the connectivity wave, which has received good response from customers. This technology could make its way to two-wheelers and Honda may be the first to take the lead by offering it with Activa 6G. If that becomes a reality, users can connect their smartphones with the digital instrument console and access a wide variety of controls and features.
Apart from offering improved connectivity, Honda may equip Activa 6G with other new features such as 12-inch alloy wheels, telescopic forks and the option of disc brakes. Engine is expected to be the same one currently being used, but it will be upgraded to meet BS-VI fuel emission norms, which come into effect from April 1, 2020.
If the engine is BS-VI compliant, it will be a fuel-injected unit by default. The existing engine on-board the Activa is a 109.19 cc HET air-cooled unit that generates max power of 7.96 PS and max torque of 9 Nm. Expect the BS6 engine to deliver lesser power.
With its new parts and features, Activa 6G is expected to be priced around Rs 5k-8k more than the existing model. Its price could be somewhere around Rs 60k-62k. Once launched, Honda Activa 6G will take on the likes of TVS Jupiter, which recently got the BS6 update for one of its variant. All variants of Jupiter are expected to get the BS6 update later this month.
