2020 Hyundai Creta production starts – Spied in Red

2020 Hyundai ix25, as it will be called in China, is the 2020 Hyundai Creta in India. Ahead of its launch next month, the 2020 Hyundai Creta has entered production at the company plant in China. First images of the new Creta from the production line, detail the SUV like never before. Interiors as well as exteriors have been leaked.

The second gen Hyundai ix25 (Hyundai Creta) is based on the design language of the Hyundai Palisade SUV. Its exteriors are seen with a panoramic sunroof, bumper mounted headlamps, LED tail lamps, shark fin antenna and a 360 degree camera.

It sits on 17” machine cut dual tone alloy wheels and gets a sharp looking front grille as is seen on the Venue. Dimensions stand at 4,300mm length, 1,790mm width and 1,620mm height. This makes it longer and wider as compared to the current Creta in India, while wheelbase is at 2,610mm, around 20mm longer.

Interiors of the 2020 Hyundai Creta too have been detailed, thanks to series of spy shots showing off more contemporary styling. It gets a sporty, flat-bottomed 3-spoke steering wheel which is stitched in leather. There are steering mounted controls for controlling display of MID, audio for phone calls, music system, cruise control, etc.

On the dashboard, you will see a large floating central display which is placed vertically, like the MG Hector. Size of the touchscreen is not revealed; but it seems to be about 10 inches in size. Current Creta gets a 7 inch touchscreen. The instrument panel is also visible, behind the steering wheel. It is an all digital unit.

The gear knob is futuristic, looks to be inspired by Audi cars. It also gets drive modes, like the Kia Seltos. It is to be noted that the Creta will share engine and transmission options with the Kia Seltos.

It will be powered by a 1.5 liter naturally aspirated petrol engine offering 115 PS power, a 1.5 liter turbo diesel engine capable of 115 PS power and a 1.4 liter turbocharged petrol engine offering 140 PS peak power. All these engine options will be BS6 compliant. 6 speed manual will be on offer with all engine options. For auto, 1.4 petrol will get 7 speed DSG, 1.5 petrol will get IVT, 1.5 diesel will get 6 speed auto.

2020 Hyundai Creta has started testing in India. It will be making its India debut at the Auto Expo in February 2020; with possible launch in the country in March. It will rival the likes of Kia Seltos, MG Hector, Tata Harrier, Nissan Kicks and Renault Captur. At first, new Creta will be launched as a 5 seater. A 7 seater Creta will be launched at a later date.
