After revealing the all new Grand i10 NIOS for India, Hyundai has released the new generation 2020 i10 small car for Europe via a teaser sketch. Both cars are based on the same platform, but are slightly different in design and dimensions.
Speaking about the new generation i10 for Europe, Hyundai says, “The all-new i10 has a young and dynamic design that stands out in the A-segment. Its wide front grille expresses a sporty character and incorporates the daytime running lights, thus continuing this feature of the i10’s heritage.”
To be produced at the company plant in Europe, the new gen i10 will not be on sale in India. Hyundai discontinued the i10 from Indian market post the launch of Santro. Above Santro, it is the Grand i10 which is on sale in India. The soon to be launched Grand i10 NIOS will be placed above the existing Grand i10, and below the i20 Elite.
Hyundai had used a similar strategy for India back in 2013, when the world got upgraded to new gen i10, India got the larger variant of new gen i10, which was christened as Grand i10. At the same time, Hyundai continued to sell the old gen i10. This time too, when the world is getting the updated 3rd gen i10, India is getting the larger variant – Grand i10 NIOS. And the old gen Grand i10 will continue to be on sale in India.
Hyundai Grand i10 NIOS is the company’s latest version of the popular hatchback. Both Grand i10 and Grand i10 NIOS are available for sale in the market. Bookings for NIOS are open across India for Rs 11,000
The company says it takes ‘cues from Indian Architecture and is inspired by Nature’. In case you were wondering, ‘NIOS’ means ‘More’. With this, Hyundai aims to offer more through their car to millennials. It features the Hyundai Signature ‘Cascading Grille’. This cements a wider and stronger front appeal. The low and wide rear bumper accentuates the sporty appeal.
The compact car does it’s best in terms of interior space. The upper C pad appears to be floating on the lower C Pad. The door-trim character line flows into the C pad to alleviate the wider and spacious interior feel. It will be offered with BS6 petrol and diesel engine options. Transmission options will include manual as well as AMT. Expect NIOS to be priced Rs 50k more expensive than the Grand i10. Price will be revealed at launch on 20th August in India.
