The 2020 Hyundai Verna FL / facelift can now be booked online on the company’s website or at its authorized dealerships for INR 25,000
The mid-size sedan features extensive design upgrades and a whole array of new equipment in addition to a BS6-spec powertrain lineup. The completely revamped front fascia has a much more aggressive appeal compared to its predecessor, thanks to a massive grille, prominent foglamp enclosures, peeled back, LED-infused headlamps and sharp chin.
2020 Hyundai Verna silhouette is quite familiar with a gently aching roofline. Of course the sedan receives new alloy wheels and accentuated crease lines. Changes to the rear fascia are not as dramatic as the front. The bumper receives revised black plastic component and a prominent chrome applique. Overall, the 2020 Hyundai Verna emerges as a sportier and youthful sedan.
Inside, the Hyundai Verna retains the dashboard layout and design but the trims, colour themes and materials have been upgraded. The most significant improvement comes in the form of a larger touchscreen infotainment system which offers a lengthy list of connectivity features. Highlights of the BlueLink system includes navigation, voice commands, wireless phone charging, tire pressure monitoring system, weather, vehicle status information, Arkamys audio system and so on. The new Verna also features a digital colour TFT instrument cluster on higher variants.
The 2020 Hyundai Verna will be available with a choice of one diesel and two petrol engines. The base petrol unit is a naturally aspirated 1.5-liter unit which can be opted with a 6-speed manual gearbox or a CVT. The motor is good for 115 hp and 144 Nm of torque.
The range-topping petrol engine is the 1.0-liter GDI direct-injection turbocharged unit that is borrowed from the Venue. The motor is paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. The motor dishes out 120 hp and 177 Nm of torque. The lone oil-burner is a 1.5-liter turbocharged mill which produces 115 hp and 250 Nm of torque. It can be had either with a 6-speed manual gearbox or a torque-converter automatic unit.
The 2020 Hyundai Verna is expected to be launched towards the end of this month. The sedan will be facing a fierce competition from the soon-to-be-launched next generation Honda City. Other rivals include Maruti Ciaz, Skoda Rapid, VW Vento and Toyota Yaris. The mid-size sedan segment has been struggling to keep pace with the compact crossovers but the arrival of two new models could infuse some much needed momentum. The new Hyundai Verna is estimated to be priced between INR 8 lakh to 14 lakh (ex-showroom).
