Hyundai Verna is among the top three selling cars in the segment, which has Maruti Ciaz as the leader. The other car in the segment is Honda City. With the new generation Verna due for a mid-life facelift, first spy images of the same have now surfaced the internet. Spied testing in China, is the new 2020 Hyundai Verna facelift. Spotted for the first time, the car is expected to make global debut later this year at the Beijing Auto Show.
Thanks to heavy camouflage, not much is decipherable about the refreshed Verna right away. But as is the case with facelifts, the Verna facelift too will receive updated styling. This will include changes to the headlight, taillight, alloys, etc.
2020 Verna will most likely get the new grille, which has now been seen on the new Elantra. This new grille is part of Hyundai’s global design language for passenger cars. After Elantra and Verna, the same will be seen on Hyundai cars like i20, i10, etc. New Verna is likely to reach India in late 2020, around the festive period.
The Verna facelift for the Indian market would do fine with tweaked headlights with LED bits. Exterior changes would see work on the bonnet, boot and fenders. As with all refreshes, interior tweaks will include refreshed touch and feel. New seat covers, updated touchscreen infotainment system with new-gen telematics and a more responsive info system. Space will most likely remain same as is on offer with current Verna.
Speaking about engine options, current Verna is powered by a range of petrol and diesel engine option. But, these will most likely not make it to the 2020 Verna, as these are not BS6 compliant. The new Verna will get BS6 compliant petrol and diesel engine options. These are expected to be 1.5 liter petrol and 1.5 liter diesel engines. Both manual as well as automatic transmission options will be on offer.
Current gen Hyundai Verna has been on sale in India since 2017 end. But it was first launched in China in 2016. Same is expected the case with facelift. It will launch in China this year, and head to India a year later in 2020. Changes to design, powertrains, and features would point to an expected price hike for Hyundai Verna 2020 facelift. In its current avatar, Verna petrol variants retail in the Rs 7.89 lakh to Rs 12.65 lakh price change, and diesel variants in the Rs 9.59 lakh – Rs 12.85 lakh price range (ex-sh Delhi).
