The new Vespa SXL 150 BS6 scooter has arrived at a Bhawani Auto dealership in Jagatpuri, East Delhi – who are authorized dealer of Vespa and Aprilia scooters. The upcoming BS6 Vespa model is already open for bookings at select dealerships across the country. The current Vespa model has a booking amount of around Rs 2000 (depending on dealership) and we expect it to be the same case for the BS6 model. Deliveries should start in the coming weeks.
The upcoming 2020 Vespa BS6 scooter SXL is almost identical to the current model on sale. The much-loved and appreciated retro scooter styling, with tasteful additions of chrome elements, has quite a following in India as well as foreign markets (especially Europe). At present, the Indian scooter market has two popular premium choices: Aprilia SR (the sporty range) and Vespa (the elegant range).
As mentioned before, the changes in the BS6 model are very subtle. The chrome headlamp-surround, exhaust protector, fender garnish, etc., share the same feel, along with the flat saddle. One area of change is the semi-digital instrument console, which looks functionally the same, but employs a different background compared to the outgoing model.
Mechanically, the BS6 variant is mostly identical as well. Of course, the engine has to be a bit different in order to comply with the ‘cleaner’ BS6 norms, but components such as the suspension and braking system remain untouched.
Coming to the engine department, the 154.8cc BS6 motor finally gets a fuel-injection system. FI systems are popularly an easy way to control emissions and output, even though they come at a higher initial cost compared to carburetted units. The output figures are reportedly the same at 10.4bhp and 10.9Nm of torque.
The new BS6-compliant Vespa scooters will carry a price hike about Rs 19k, compared to the outgoing BS4 model. This is quite an enormous amount in the scooter segment since one can easily find a decent used-scooter for this price. Still, the Vespa range has always been a premium choice and not an alternative to the big-seller, Honda Activa.
As per the leaked price list of 2020 Vespa BS6 scooters, the base Urban Club BS6 is priced at Rs 93k, which is about Rs 18k more than the BS4 variant. Notte Matte Black BS6 is priced at Rs 93k, LX 125 BS6 is priced at Rs 96.6k, ZX CBS BS6 is priced at Rs 1 lakh, VXL 125 CBS BS6 is priced at Rs 1.1 lakh, SXL 125 CBS BS6 is priced at Rs 1.13 lakh.
The 2020 Vespa VXL 150 ABS BS6 is priced from Rs 1.22 lakhs. Vespa SXL 150 ABS BS6 priced from Rs 1.26 lakhs. SXL 150 ABS BS6 Matte Red Dragon price is Rs 1.27 lakhs and top of the line Elegante 150 ABS BS6 price is Rs 1.32 lakhs. All prices ex-sh.
